I was excited when I began seeing blog postings about making a tablet keeper. I couldn't wait to get my hands on these templates. I wish I could have read the directions before I purchased this. I've been sewing (everything from fully lined wool suits to simple quilts) for over 35 years and I had an awful time understanding these directions. I thought maybe I was tired and it was me. So I slept on it and began again the next day. Same feeling. I discovered the directions left out important things like telling you which section I was to be working on. Yes, there are pictures but they don't always correspond to the instruction they refer to.

I was very disappointed because I REALLY wanted to make one of these. After struggling with the directions for 5 days I finally got it completed. Although I like the end result, the torture to get there isn't worth it.

If you are a beginner sewer, do NOT use this pattern unless you have someone who can help you.

This is the first product I've purchased by Nancy Zieman. And I will be VERY hesitant to purchase anything else she has done.

I bought these after watching Nancy Ziemans videos, more than once. The directions were not complete or something. I am like the other reviewer, it took 3 days of total stress and several rip outs and remakes to get the finished product. Now it was a nice project completed, but it was so aggravating to get there. I also ordered the Florida Tote, I am trying to finish it now. It is pretty much the same. VERY confusing from the cut out to finish. Things just did not make sense. or common sense. The tote is really nice if you can get it to work out. Needless to say after several rip outs and I finally just had to leave one part that I just could not get right and if I had ripped out again, it would have destroyed the fabric. I hope this helps others!!!! Be aware not easy and you have to read minds!!! lol

Good idea but I don't know what she was thinking. The sizes of the pattern do not fit the Kindle. If you want to make one to fit your tablet or Kindle, be sure to adjust the pattern to fit your device. Very disappointed in the quality of this pattern for the price.

I received these templates as a birthday gift. I agree that the instructions leave much to be desired. After reading other reviews, I decided to make a copy of the instructions and use a yellow highlighter to highlight only the instructions for the e-reader. Having the instructions for the paper tablet on the same sheet as the e-reader made it very confusing. Do yourself a favor and watch Nancy Zieman's YouTube video on this project a couple of times before attempting to make it.

Here are the changes I made: Instead of iron-on interfacing and sew-in Peltex stabilizer, I chose to just use iron-on Peltex. Next time I will add a layer of thin cotton batting for additional cushioning. The notion requirements called for two different Clover Creat-A-Strap packages. Instead, I centered a strip of medium weight iron-on interfacing on each strap, folded the long raw edges of the fabric to the back so that they met in the middle, and ironed it. As for the Clover Pre-Cut Tablet Keeper Shapers, I used a piece of plastic needlepoint canvas, cut it into two pieces using the template as a guide, and slipped them in.

I found that the small size template was still too large for my Kindle Keyboard, so I cut mine down about a 1/2" each in width and length. I was able to figure out what I needed to alter in order to make this project work for me, but it could be a bit overwhelming for a beginner. I am very happy with the final result, but there are better instructions and tutorials on the web.

This is a good item but at first can be very confusing reading directions. Two much back and forth between styles. Once I highlighted only the areas I needed for a particular style I was alright. COULD BE A HARD PROJECT FOR A BEGINNER SEWER.
