I made these for Christmas gifts this year and they've all turned out lovely. The patterns are detailed and each one comes out looking gorgeous. The kit comes with all the thread, cloth, and backing felt you need, and depending on how savvy you are with using your space you'll have plenty of extra aida cloth and backing fabric for a few other projects if you like to recycle (I know I usually do).

I would like to caution anyone just starting out with cross stitch about purchasing these ornaments to give as gifts. I am a fairly advanced stitcher so each ornament went fairly quickly, a total of 3-4 hours each to stitch, cut out, and back. That being said, if you're new to cross stitching these ornaments are not for you. While they are small the patterns are detailed, use multiple colors, as well as cross stitch, quarter cross stitch, back stitch, and french knots. You also have to trace the stocking or mitten pattern out and fit the design yourself. While it's easy to tell which patterns are for mittens and which are for stockings, the patterns are not fit exactly to the tracing cut outs and if you're not familiar with cross stitching patterns you'll be a little lost when you go to finish your ornaments. I would suggest tracing out the shape before you start stitching as that helped me a lot, but even doing that it will be difficult for someone not used to stitching.

However, if you're like me and a regular cross stitcher, these make amazing gifts. You can use them on their own, or leave the top of the stockings and mittens open (a little more difficult with the trees) and fill them with treats or even cash. A great value for the number of ornaments you get out of the kit. It's really festive, and was a pleasure to work on!

A lot of these reviews say it's not for beginners, but I haven't had any problems yet. I have knitting experience and some sewing, so following a pattern isn't too hard. What made it easier for me is picking some of the less complicated patterns to start on and work my way up. Online tutorials fill in the gaps when I don't know what to do next. Cute patterns!

The kit is great, it has everything you need to make those ornaments: patterns, fabric, floss, backing and even the neddle, but if you are not the most experienced in cross stitch you should work this project allong with some other and alternate, or it gets a little bit tired.
