I am new to needle punch so I have bought several different types of needles to try out. The Lavor punch needle set I bought is very good on certain types of fabric. I like the fact you can adjust the shaft length easily. It is interesting comparing the different punch needles out there because some are better than others in different ways. I recommend buying and reading Punchneedle, The Complete Guide by Marinda Stewart to get an idea of the needles available as well as proper fabric choices (because different needles work better on different fabric). The first needle punch I purchased had no adjustable shaft (so the thread loop length was set) and only one size available (medium, #2). Since I was just starting I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money so I bought this very basic needle. My next purchase was the Lavor set because of the price and wanting to try an adjustable needle punch. It is a good set, but I was surprised at the difference in the needle tip sharpness compared to my first needle punch. The Lavor set has more of a blunt tip to it's needles. Since this needle punch is much like a pen or pencil in it's length and the way one holds it, I slipped a finger cushion around the barrel for comfort (definitely helps). There are no instructions or recommendations included with the set either so you have to experiment with different threads/yarns as well as fabrics. That can seem like a pain to those who just want to start right away on a project. I am not unhappy with my purchase, but I would not buy this needle set as my one and only.

It was hard enough to find a needle with a wide diameter, by a decent price, but also the little bolt on the side of the handle does not hold the needle tight enough. We had to rethread the inside thread and to find another little bolt for holding that needle tightly pressed inside the handle. :-(. It works though

Punch needle seem to be quite complicated, this one is really thick so didnt work for my girlfriend, we bought another one that looks like a pencil and you can find if you look for punch needles in youtube.

Its easier with the youtubes punch needle because we can apply all instructional videos!

The item was smaller than expected and the wire threader is cheeply made. Being only a thin wire, it could stand to be a better guage and still be flexible.
