Has almost everything you need to get started, only thing it needs is some turpentine. Someone else complained about how stiff the brushes are, but that's just due to the coating -which many brushes are sold with to keep them in shape before they are used. The coating washes off, whence the brushes are soft as oil brushes need to be.

The thing that bothers me about the kit, is the brushes are all fairly large, like they expect you'll be making very big paintings; but the tubes of paint are quite small (I didn't even have enough white paint to finish a painting on one 8x10 inch canvas.) Needs some tinier brushes!

I bought this set to take my painting to "side-business" level. The paints are good quality oils and it really does come with everything you need except turpentine. The palette knife is a bit flimsy, only use is for mixing, same quality as a plastic knife. The brushes are okay. They are easily frayed and not as soft as some other brushes I have tried. But if you are painting just for fun or using this for kids or school, then it should work fine. I needed to order a whole new brush set though. The brush stand that is advertised is pretty useless. Inside the box there are plastic inserts that I had to remove, they were annoying as they would never let the box close nicely. Once I threw those away, then the box worked perfectly for me.

It has everything that you need along with an instructional book to help guide you. Perfect for the beginner oil painter! Brushes are excellent quality and you get a wide assortment of colors along with an apron and mixing knife and palette. Excellent quality, especially for the price!! Extremely satisfied! :)
