This is not really a set of 48 but 4 packs of 12 needles all the same size. I expected to receive a pack 48 needles of a variety of sizes. The needles are so tiny I'm not sure the self-threading feature will be of any value. I would not recommend

I used to give my mother a hard time whenever she asked me to thread her needles however now that I am older I understand completely. I was trying to thread a needle to hem a pair of pants and I finally just gave up-no matter which pair of glasses I put on I just couldn't get the needle threaded. These needles are fantastic! Their design makes them extremely easy to use and I was sewing in a matter of seconds. These are the only needles I will use from now on and I enthusiasticly recommend them to anyone who wants an easy needle to thread.

I'm sorry to say i didn't really like these needles at all. I purchased them in hopes it would take the eye strain out of threading needles but instead found it took great effect to pull the thread down in to the needle. too much effort actually. it took more time to find a way to pull that thread into the needle than to thread through the eye of a regular needle. in fact, one needle had one side break off while trying to pull the thread thru that area you see in the diagram for the needle threading. not good but that's my experience with them.
