I tried to contact seller five times and only got one response the last time. They don't seem to be willing to refund shipping on item both ways, or at all, so I will keep item even it is not what I ordered and is very old and some is unusable. Two of them were not even that brand and are dried out. This was not 12, but 9, includding two unusable and three mini sticks, which are really less than one!
I had heard they would pay shipping if item was not what I ordered. I will take the loss by keeping what I can use and never order from them again. Another $6.00 just to ship back would be another loss on my part.
Thank you Amazon, but do not rate these people highly on your list.
thank you, Karen Young

The set that is pictured here is the set that I ordered, but did not receive. The set I received was the set of very dark colors. I already had a those. As a portrait artist, I needed the set of lighter colors.
Thanks
All other items I have purchased from Amazon have been great and at a lower price.

I purchased these for a class on Shiva painting that my quilt guild offered. If you don't know to first rub off the hard coating on each stick before using, it would be very frustrating. But after you do that, it works beautifully. I started with a simple stencil and made a lovely quilt block.

Love the oil sticks. As a new artist I was afraid of using oil paints but the Shiva Oil Sticks are a great way to begin with oils without all the mess.

I had a few Shiva Painstiks at home that I purchased on clearance at a local art supply store, but they sat unused because I didn't know how to use them. I was lucky enough to take a class in them at a local quilting show, and wow are these awesome. The colors are so vibrant and go on smooth and easy depending on the method in which they are applied. I prefer the use of a short bristled stiff stencil brush. And can get great designs when you use the paintstiks in combination with rubbing plates. The professional colors are more expensive than the student version, but worth the price when you see the results.
