My boyfriend bought this for me as I never had the right needles for the project (we all know how frustrating that is!). Now, I pretty much have all the right needles, but I don't really enjoy knitting with them. These needles are plastic, which is good because if you like to knit on the plane, theoretically you can take them on board. I haven't tried this yet, however, as I fear that they will still make me throw them away for some ridiculous reason (like threatening the pilot the I'll knit him a cheesy Christmas sweater or some itchy socks). I personally prefer metal needles and I find that these tips are a little too blunt and the smaller ones are a little bendy, which I don't like so much. The thing that bothers me the most is that the cords are pretty thick and inflexible and if you are knitting with a small gauge needle the yarn just doesn't slide around on the cable very well. The yarn also gets caught on the connectors, which is really irritating. I have to constantly stop and go through the process of pushing all the stitches around to create some slack. Bottom line: I am glad I have them if I want to start a new project right away, but I often find myself buying a set of metal ones and using them instead, thus defeating the purpose of the set.

I have had my set for a year and at first I loved them, but that was before I started knitting on the smaller needles. If you are using anything above a 7 these work fantastically. You can make the cord quite short or really long. The plastic is a good balance between slick and not so the yarn moves over nicely but not sliding everywhere like on some metal needles. However, like I said if you want to knit on needles 6 and below, buy those elsewhere. It doesn't work at all because the needles are almost the same thickness as the cord and does not really slide well on it taking twice as long to finish a project then it would on a good set of regular circular needles.

I got this set for Christmas and as a new knitter (less than a year) I found them to be absolutely wonderful. I don't really understand people's complaints; I've never had a problem sliding my work from one end to the other, the yarn never gets caught, it is so easy to detach the needles and the case is light weight. I carry it with me almost everywhere. It's also great to have the ability to close off a piece and use the needles for something else. You can also make longer lengths by using the connectors to attach the wires together. overall, a great set!

Honest reviews on Denise Interchangeable Knitting Set

I've had my Denise needle set for about a year and use them frequently, as knitting is my line of business. I was concerned about buying a plastic set, as I usually prefer wood or bamboo and was worried about the quality of a plastic set, but my concerns were unnecessary. The needles are quite sturdy (although slightly less so for the size 5's) and I see them holding up well for years to come. The cable is thick (about the size of the 5 needles) but flexible, and can easily be used for magic loop knitting. The trade-off between plastic and metal needles is the ease of sliding the stitches, but I don't find it difficult or bothersome with these (although some fibers do catch on the join more often than others; ie, I find that cotton slides more easily than acrylic--which I can't stand to use regardless-and some wools slide more easily than others; it's really the same story for any type of needles, though). I actually find myself knitting at a faster pace with these than with my metal needles, since the plastic is a little more "grippy" but still smooth (similar to wood) and hence I drop less stitches with these. I also find the large cable a little more comfortable on my hands than circulars with smaller cables (I have very small hands, but I imagine it would be true for people with larger hands, too). Another advantage this set has over others I've seen is that the case keeps the set so well-organized. Each slot is labeled with the needle size (both US and traditional sizes), and everything stays in place nicely even if the case is jostled. The other sets of seen lack in this area, even the much more expensive sets.

It would be convenient if the case included spaces to store stitch markers and a tapestry needle, etc. but I just store my stitch markers on the pointy end of one of my less-used (size 11) needles and they stay in place nicely. I keep my tapestry needle underneath the other size 11 needle, and it stays put, too. A separate place for them would be nice, though. However, my only true complaint is that occasionally when I grip the working needle too tightly, it comes unlocked from the cable and I drop several stitches. I'm quick at picking them back up so it's not a huge deal, but it is a little bit of an inconvenience. I'm not sure how this could be resolved (besides just loosening my grip), and I know it's a common problem with the other interchangeable sets I've seen, too, but it's worth being aware of.

Overall, I highly recommend this set. The price can't be beat, especially for the quality of the set.

So, I don't normally review items just because I don't really have that much to say, but once I started knitting with this set I just had to come and share my thoughts.

I love how the points are, they are sharp enough that when I am knitting with that dreaded furry yarn I can still just fly through my stitches. Most people have said they don't like the sharp points but I find them to be one of the best things about these needles.

Secondly, I love how you can either have a circular needle or the straight needle, without having to buy a bunch of the same sizes in different forms. Yeah this set might be a little expensive for some, but I would just about bet that it will pay for itself if you are an avid knitter.

Third, and this is my favorite thing about this set, with the cords that connect to the needles, as a straight set I can lay down and knit. I've had two back surgeries and will need more in the future, sometimes I need to lie down but that gets so boring. I'm always wanting to do something, with these needles, I can actually lie down and knit at the same time! amazing! No long needles getting in the way, the flexibility of the cording allows for many different positions. It may seem silly to some, but I love it.

I was a little concerned at first with the plastic needle tips (correction: Resin) , I normally hate knitting with plastic or wood, but these are very solid, light, and simply a joy to knit with. I would definitely recommend these to new and old knitters alike.
