I bought this for my 23 month old granddaughter to use with the Melissa and Doug easel. Here is why I like this.
1. This comes with four color coded paint bottles, paint cups, and brushes, and a roll of easel paper. One negative review complained about the brushes losing hairs and the easel paper being too thin, but I have not experienced those problems. True, you can't let your child saturate the easel paper with paint without having something bleed through onto the dry board underneath. But that is true for any easel paper. This easel paper works just fine.
However, the easel paper is in fact about two inches narrower on each side than the easel. This means that when my granddaughter paints right up to the edge of the paper, she inevitably gets some paint on the dry board. It easily washes off, but just keep that in mind. I am not sure if an easel pad would be the full width of the dry board, which is 23 inches (the easel paper is only 18 inches wide).
2. This also comes with 10 pieces of nicely colored chalk that are just the right size and shape (rectangular stem and tapered tip) for tiny hands. The chalk works well and is not excessively dusty as one negative review complains.
Another negative review questions why there is black colored chalk for a blackboard. But the chalk is actually a dark grey and it shows up just fine on the blackboard. I sometimes wonder whether people every actually try something before complaining about it.
3. This comes with only a single blue dry erase marker for the dry board, which marker I decided NOT to use. It works just fine, but it is NOT washable (which is not a defect--no dry erase markers that I know of are), meaning I would not be able to easily wash it off my granddaughter's hands or clothes. Instead I bought a set of 8 colored washable markers for her to use.
I can't use the dry eraser to remove the washable colors, but instead just dampen a small (2" x 3") Scotch brite sponge to wipe the colors off, and have a roll of bounty nearby for when I accidentally put too much water on the sponge.
True, this is not as convenient as using a dry eraser, but in exchange I can easily clean my granddaughter's hands and clothing, and also don't have to worry if she accidentally drops a marker onto my carpeting.
4. Other reviews note that this comes with only one eraser, which works well on the blackboard. It will also work on the dry board if you use dry erase markers. My only critique is that I think this set should have included two erasers and more than one color for people who want to use dry erase markers.
Bottom line: This is a quality accessory set for the Melissa and Doug easel or any children's easel.

Everything I needed for the easel was contained in this kit. It arrived as promised from the seller. The box was a little dented but the contents were fine
