I have a really hard time crocheting anymore due to arthritis and the metal needles seem to make it worse. My family purchased me a set of bamboo knitting needles for christmas and I was so impressed with them that for my birthday I began searching for bamboo crochet hooks. I was so happy to find these at such a wonderful price and bought them immediatly!
This is a really great product! I love amazon!

This is my new favorite set of hooks!I love the light weight feel of bamboo. I have found that it grips the yarn nicely and if you need it to be a bit smoother, just rub it down with a piece of waxed paper. :)
The finger indentations are fairly forward in this set. I do not have a true preference in holds, and tend to use a knife hold with this set. It just seems to fit better. That said, the pencil hold is not uncomfortable unless you hold the hook close to the tip & over the indentation, then you limit the amount of comfortable spin. The chopstick is also comfortable if you are half way down the length of the hook.
Overall, the quality of the set is nice and a great value!

I was enjoying crocheting an afghan with the ThinkBamboo 9mm hook until my friend's dog found my work basket and chewed up the hook. Not wanting to order an entire new set, I went out and bought a Clover Takumi soft touch hook to replace it. Within an hour of crocheting with the Takumi hook, my wrist was sore and I had to stop working. I had experienced absolutely no pain from overuse while using the ThinkBamboo hooks. I returned the Takumi, and bought a second set of these hooks. These hooks are smooth, very light and supremely comfortable. These is no finger guide on the hook, which seems to help me reduce stress on the wrist and ward off carpal tunnel syndrome.
I have been crocheting for several decades, and these are now my favorite hooks.
