My friend is a woodcrafter and having cut out the characters she draws, she then paints the raw article in acrylic paint. Apple is a good brand she has used in the past and trusts. Being able to buy more common colours it in quantities larger than 2 oz. bottles makes a big difference as she does not have to run to the shop as often for replacement.
