Years ago I owned a Kolinsky Sable watercolor brush and it was the best brush I'd ever owned. Even better than Windsor Newton.

I just received these paint brushes in the mail. They are wonderful. They are snappy, hold water, and paint sooooo well. I love them.

These are imprinted with "Creative Mark" on one side and the claim that they contain Kolinsky sable hairs on the other. My set contained brushes with frayed hairs and a wobbly top on one of them. The hairs are not secured well, the hairs are cut poorly, and I don't believe they are 100% sable. The box makes this cheap set look like a deal it is not.

The only reason that I did not give this item 5 stars is because I would not use all the brushes in this set. I have several of the brush sizes in this set and they are great. These brushes are not quite as wonderful as my Winsor and Newton Series 7 but I didn't pay nearly as much for them as the W&N. I believe that one should always buy the very best brush they can afford because the quality of the brush truly does affect your ability to creat the mark or line affectively. This brush points well, holds a lot of pigment and has great snap.

These brushes are genuine high quality Kolinsky Sable and trust me just because a brush is made of sable doesn't mean that is going to be a great brush or that it is Kolinsky sable. Not all sables are equal. There a lot of factors that go into brush making that determine it's quality and value and Rhapsody has done a great job by using high quality sable and excelent craftmanship. If money is your only consideration then go ahead and purchase a less expensive brush. I have found over the many years that I have been painting when it comes to artist quality paint brushes that you get what you pay for. When you skimp on price then you loose quality. If you are looking for a quality brush at a reasonable price then this is the brush for you.
