Sennelier's is the best egg tempera oil-emulsion paint available in tubes there is. Pricier than Daler Rowney's but Sennelier's quality is consistent and is worth it. My only complaint about it is that the aluminum tubes are rather on the soft side and could split if the caps are twisted too forcefully, especially when the tube caps get stuck by dried paint -in which case I would advise soaking the tube cap-side down in warm water and wait until the caps become unstuck before attempting to twist the caps open. Other than that, this paint is excellent. (NOTE: This is not true egg tempera where the binder is pure egg yolk; Sennelier's is an egg-oil emulsion tempera paint that has a mixture of egg and drying oil plus some preservatives to avoid spoilage. Although this paint mimics some of the qualities of pure egg tempera, the application and technique you use will have to be modified to suit this paint accordingly because it is different from classic egg tempera.)

This set is beautiful and very fine. The colors blend well together and I am just beginning to learn how to use this type of paint. I wish there was included some more information on how to use the paints and emulsion, varnish types, and other tips or instruction. This set is not meant for the beginner use. I am just using for the first time today, and cannot commit to a full opinion, on how enthusiastic I might be about egg tempera in the future? I will say that these are fine quality colors and I intend to explore the medium with experiment and study.The box makes me laugh, as there is not one fraction of an inch spare space for the paints and easel to fit back in once opened. This precision of design makes me want to take particular care of it, and towards the use I make of these materials.

These paints are really fun. They have a light and fluffy consistency, dry quickly, and this set comes already organized for you with everything you need. Definitely worth the price. I'd recommend pouring paints from tubes into very small, plastic jars, and spritz with water to keep the paint fresh.
