I'm an experienced watercolorist. I've always worked relatively small, equal or less than about 14 by 21-inches. Thus pans, 1/2 or whole have always sufficed although I also have tubes and tube travel sets as well. Working outdoors, at about maybe 11 by 15-inches, with pans, gives me great pleasure. Sur le motiv and au premier coup. Start and done by late morning, then off to the coffee and sweets shop. Not that weeks and weeks of thin layers / washes stuff, in a studio working flat on an elephant as they say. Just me.
That being the case, I like this little kit very much. Fits right in with my stable of similars, Bijou Box, etc.
And, Sennelier colors are first rate. My only con is that I wish they had included a second, deeper and warmer transparent yellow. However, I bought one open-stock and popped it in the middle row. There's still plenty of room there for a collapsing, "folding", travel size 4 Kolinsky sable brush. (Can't say that about all other travel boxes. My Bijou came with a uselessly tiny brush.)
So, bottom line, I can pop this into a pocket, a water bottle in another pocket and I'm off carrying a cold-pressed, 140-pound 6 by 9-inch block. Happy hunting!
