This is a decent price considering that shipping will be cheaper than at Jerry's Artarama...and a stellar product. If you haven't used these yet, they are indespensable. SUper pigment load.

These paints are excellent and flow smoothly. I used it for details on wooden toys and I am happy with the results.

Well, I used up the majority of my starter kit of acrylic paints and bought bigger tubes of frequently used colors like titanium white, hooker's green, ultramarine etc. I've also started buying better brushes and canvases. It was a natural next step to start trying out better and/or professional quality paints. I went online and checked reviews. Golden comes highly rated and was one of the brands the local Michael's carries. I only needed a tube of yellow ochre, but when the wife called from the store to ask what brand, exactly, and Golden was one of the choices, had her pick up a set. This set. The Golden 8 pack of professional quality acrylics.

I was a little worried--only 8 colors? However, I remembered from my art book that all the colors can actually be mixed from the 3 primary colors. Theoretically. So maybe this is how the pros do it? Maybe the muddy stuff I come up with when I merge too many colors together is just because I have inferior paints! So, Yes, Honey, get the Golden! (but get the yellow ochre too, because I've never figured out how to get that from mixing other colors).

Did I mention these are fluid acrylics? Before I trash these paints--Just because I spent an hour sketching out a masterpiece of a tree a field and sky--and with my first under painting of sky it dripped into my field...and then the paint seemed to "reverse-bead" itself on the canvas (like not stick/stay); should I say I'd been warned? ...Well it is true that glowing reviews say its the consistency of cream. It didn't say "ice cream" or "skin cream" or "creamy.". That's what I'd thought...creamy-dreamy; if fluid, fluid like a dancer's moves...fluid like a fluid writing style. No. Think milk. Half-and-half. Cream. That kind of cream. If you're like me and weren't raised on a farm, and can't remember the last time you've ever encountered actual cream...well, this is an expensive way to remind yourself. And, it's high pigment load means you won't be able to get that drop of phthalocyanine green out of those fancy pants you thought you could get away with wearing because you're careful!

I've not yet figured out why some of the colors don't take to the canvas. I did try shaking the bottles vigorously--vaguely based on the churning cream-to-butter, or perhaps there was some sort of sedimentary thing. Bottom-line is I wouldn't try it if you haven't used it or been introduced to it before. Conversely, I have a tube of the Golden heavy acrylics--that's fine.
