great for beginner. i love the set. i currently use the brushes with water and a magic cloth. it did not come with a little spoon, BUT what i did was, i purchased a small amber bottle with a dropper within it to store water in. in a way, that idea completed the set. works AMAZINGLY.

This item is amazing! I bought it for my school Chinese class and never would expect how HUMONGOUS it is! Everyone said I have the coolest calligraphy set; and even though it doesn't have a paperweight or little spoon for JUST the right amount of water; the ink is amazingly dark and everything is just like it's case, HUGE!!! All five brushes are different sizes for your level of calligraphy master(ing); and the box is very sturdy. It even comes with practice paper, handy and extremely detailed instructions, and starter words to write with stroke order and everything! I'm thrilled and couldn't imagine having ANY other calligraphy set!
