I really like these watercolors. They blend well and work with all of the watercolor techniques. They dry quickly and the colors remain vivid after they are dry. This set comes with a Van Gogh brush which I found to be a surprisingly well-made little brush considering it was part of a set. I wish I could find more of this brand of brushes, but from my research it appears they are not sold individually in the United States. Too bad, because I really like them.
The colors which are included in the set are:
Permanent Red Light
Madder Lake Deep
Permanent Lemon Yellow
Azo Yellow Medium
Burnt Sienna
Cobalt Blue
Payne's Gray
Permanent Green
Ultramarine Deep
Viridian
Yellow Ochre
and Chinese White.
The set would have been more useful to me if instead of Chinese White it had included Cerulean blue (which is such a wonderful color for skies and water), however I was able to buy individual tubes of watercolor at Dick Blick, and I have now added Cerulean Blue and a few other colors to the original group. I've discovered that almost all "sets" of watercolors include either Chinese White, Titanium White, or both which makes no sense to me since usually with watercolor, the paper is used as the "white" in a painting. But, I got this set for a very good price, it shipped quickly, and I couldn't be happier with the quality of the paints. Van Gogh watercolors are made in the Netherlands by Royal Talens, and are considered to be"Student" grade, but the quality is excellent. To quote from the Dick Blick web site, "Artists who try out Van Gogh products are often surprised that they're considered student grade." I'm very happy with these paints.
