The needles in this set are of good quality and offer a unique feature self-threading. The tips have a small slit at the top that allows you to thread the needle quicky and easily without having to reach for the extra, extra strong reading glasses. Very nice design.
The self-threading is only found on the standard needles. The specialty needles (the large ones for mattresses, gloves, rugs, etc.) have conventional tips. But, those tips are quite large, so the self-threading feature is not needed.
The problem, and the reason for 2 stars, is the packaging. It's horrible! Instead of 10 standard needles I only had 6 in the package since they are just loosely affixed to some backing material. I'm sure there were 10 in there at the start, but somewhere along the journey from the factory to my house, 4 of them went AWOL.
The larger needles are stuck through cardboard and remained intact in the package.
Good product, but don't count on getting the full set of 10 standard needles.

I bought this set mainly for the household needlesthe self threading sewing needles were just a bonus so I wasn't terribly fussed over this, but there was supposed to be 10 self threading sewing needles but 5 were completely missing. They were not in the bottom of the boxthey were just gone. The plastic "windows" in the cardboard packaging were coming out and were not even trying to keep the needles in the package. Had I paid much more for this set I would be demanding a replacement or refund but, as I said, I wanted this set because the price was really good for the household needle set. I will be keeping this and not ordering from Jed Mart again (and with a name like that I should have known better).

There were supposed to be 10 self-threading needles in the sewing essentials, but the poor packaging (poorly taped closed) allowed for only 5 to be found in shipment, 2 of which had escaped from the packaging all together and were loose in the box. Very dissatisfied with the packaging of this product, and unhappy that half of the needles are missing altogether.
