I love knitting socks. So much so that I started a knitting circle at work.After one too many occasions of forgetting my work at home, I had to get a second set of needles. Since I'd be leaving them at work, buying fancy expensive needles was out of the question.
Some people may be put off by the tooth of these needles. They do tend to grip the yarn a bit and the points aren't totally uniform, but that hasn't slowed me down in the least (and I'm a tight knitter).
I gave them five stars because at this price, they're worth every star. There are superior needles out there, I won't lie, but they also have a superior price point.

If you're used to the bamboo needles one finds in a knit shop, you will be disappointed. These are a very soft bamboo, and in any given set of 5, there will maybe one blunt tip and 1-2 slightly splintered tips. Actually, if you zoom in on the photo, you can see some of the tip shape variation!I used an emery board to smooth the splintered tips, and refine the shape of some of the blunt needles. I keep the emery board nearby as little splinters catch on yarn and become more splintered.
Why do I bother? I choose this set because of the unique sizes (for example, one set is in between a 1 and 2, another between 2 and 3) and the short needle length. I still find them useful for making socks when I want to use a slightly smaller needle for the ribbing (or laced ribbing), but going down a full size is too much.
