I own a number of color pencil sets including "regular" color pencils and watercolor pencils. I have a preference for pastel anyway so when I learned of these I was looking forward to trying them. I like them so much that they are my pencils of choice. The colors are sufficiently varied and easily blended to give you almost any effect you could wish for. This pencil set is wonderful and I cannot recommend it more highly.

Best Deals for Faber Castell Pitt Pastel Pencil Set of 60 Colors
I purchased some individual colors from a local art store to try and I I found I really loved these pastel pencils. I decided to order the whole set and I'm glad I did. There is a broad enough range of colors here to accomplish any task, from portraits to landscapes. These are great for adding details to larger pastel paintings and do quite well on their own for 8x10 or smaller projects. I've heard other complaints about frequent breaking in another brand of pastel pencils, but I have to say, I've not had that problem with the Faber Castell Pitt Pastels. I would highly recommend these. They are a great compliment to soft (chalk) pastels when a soft pastel just won't give you that fine detail you're looking for.
