Once you have it all put together, it's a great help to keep up with the swatches. I suggest doing a master set and one to travel with.

I just started my fabric stash for quilting a little over a year ago but already have over 500 fabrics. These swatch buddies will allow me to try fabric combinations together without having yards of fabric spread out everywhere and without having to go through handling each piece until ready to use it. If additional fabrics are needed the chooses swatch buddies can be taken to the store to make matches. When ordering fabric on-line it will be easier to check that I not reordering fabrics I already have on hand as swatch buddies easily move with you. The labels on the back side provide a place to note where the fabric was purchased, yardage on hand, designer, and fabric collection. I also indicate storage location.

The only problem I see is that the size is to small for novelty fabrics with many colors spread allover. Also larger floral fabrics its impossible to get a swatch with all the colors on it.
