I bought this small set of multicolored calligraphy pens sometime ago for two specific reasons. First, they were on sale (we are talking cheap folks) at one of my local art stores and I am one of those people who cannot pass-up such a temptation...so on a whim, I bought them. Secondly, I have several calligraphy pen (nibs) sets; some which cost a small fortune when I bought them. (I actually contemplated indenturing my first born to pay for one of the sets but my wife, in her typical fashion, whined about it so I gave up...it was not worth the hassle. Anyway, I love my old sets; love them too much to muck up the nibs on some of the projects I do...i.e. I do a lot of printing on very rough material such as gourds and wood and such. I also like to do a lot of doodling; you know, drawing silly pictures and making strange letters and such as I set and think. Setting up my good sets and then going through the trouble (which is great) cleaning them sort of takes the fun out of just "messing around."
Anyway, I found this set met my particular and unique needs perfectly. Now don't get the wrong impression...I am no expert in the filed of calligraphy...no, no, no! Truth be told not even I can decipher my own handwriting, so you can imagine what it looks like when I try to get "fancy." Pretty grim stuff here folks.
These pens are actually quite well made. There are two nibs to each pen. One is 3.5mm and the other is 2.0mm. The material the nibs are made of is extremely strong and it is long lasting; even after abusive treatment. They hold their chisel shape well and the color is strong and dark. The circumference of the pen is a bit thicker than you would normally find in a typical writing marker and is easy to hold and easier to maneuver. You get a nice clean stroke and changing the flow of the stroke is quite easy once you practice for a bit.
Now the ink, which is acid free and VERY quick drying, is nice and it is permanent. Note my emphasis on QUICK DRYING! This has a down side. If you leave the cap off your pen, even for a relatively short time, the thing will dry out very, very quickly, making the pen absolutely useless.
These pens are most certainly not going to replace a high quality calligraphy set or pen anytime soon but they are ideal for the use I put them to. This would be an excellent set to purchase if you want to explore and learn if the art of calligraphy is right for you and if you might enjoy it. I had a friend in the distant past that spent a great deal of his hard earned money on a beautiful set; found after three days he hated it and the set now is gathering dust in the bottom of one of his desk drawers and the ink bottles he bought are quite dried out. Pity.
This is also a very nice and relatively inexpensive way of having a set of pens to doodle around with or to have on hand to address cards during Christmas or what ever.
If you cannot find these things on sale then this is a pretty good asking price...especially if you have Amazon Prime and do not have to pay the postage on the things.

Very impressed. This is a great set of Calligraphy markers. Fast service and excellent product.I would highly recommend. I will be purchasing a bigger set if they have them.
