These brushes can appear like a gimmick at first. Rake brushes do similar work depending on how you use them, but these Wisp brushes do a terrific job once you play with them a while. I've spent many years experimenting with brushes, as we painters do!...(after all, isn't that what art is about? :) )...slowly gathering my favorite types from synthetics to bristles. These wisps were no different. They're synthetic and light-weight. I've used them for grasses, creating textures on buildings, or just making interesting lines....and they do a terrific job when layering fur. It's all in the brush strokes like any other brush, but once you get the feel of these, you'll discover several applications that will produce great results. Just give them some time at your easel.

(I use acrylics by the way...just if you were curious. Primarily Atelier Interactives and Liquitex Heavy Body. I can't speak to whether they would do well for oils...(maybe thinned down?)...but for acrylics or WCs, they're fine.)
