These brushes are just ok. My biggest complaint is that they come rock-hard with sizing that's very hard to get out.

I received the three Sumi Brushes in Brazil very quickly, so I'm very satisfied with Art Advantage services. The brushes have long and soft goat hair, so it isn't easy to work with them. However, I recommend this Set to all who want to paint on chinese techniques.

If you are just starting out in the art of sumi, this brush set is for you. The brushes arent top of the line but they are excellent nonetheless. Other reviewers seem to not understand what a sumi brush is and how it is supposed to respond in the hand. You dont use sumi brushes like a normal brush, there is a special technique you must master to get the most from sumi and that is on the artist not the brush. Yes the brushes shed, ALL sumi brushes do and it isn't considered a flaw. NEVER soak the brushes above the hair line, it will cause the hairs to come loose. When done painting rinse your sumi brush gently and then reshape the tip into a point and hang them upside down. If you set them with the hairs up water will run into the handle and looses the brush end. Take good care of these brushes and they will last a long time. The box is cheap but dont store your brushes in it anyhow.
