I used this and mixed it with Glidden paint to make fabric paint. I then painted a sofa with it using a 2:1 ratio. Since I had also ordered Martha Stewart's version of this, I was able to compare the two. While the Folk Art works, it doesn't go on as smoothly as the MS Fabric Medium. This was my first time to use it for a project this big. It was a little bit spotty while applying, I had to go back over to get good coverage. Please keep in mind that I used this on a cotton upholstery fabric and not on clothing.Friday, January 31, 2014
Buy Folk Art 796 8-Ounce Textile Medium
I'm using this with acrylic paints to paint on flour sack towels. Directions say to use a 2:1 ratio of medium to paint. This is a bit hard to measure since my paint is thick and the medium is water-thin. Eyeballing the measurements seems to be working so far. The final product is a bit stiff, but has held up well in several warm water washes. It bleeds some on the fabric during the painting/stamping process, but what I'm doing doesn't require crisp edges.
