excellent product, successfully made molds of our 2 month old's foot and hand with it. Would have appreciated more directions and advice on how to be successful. For others using it on kids: use a plastic dish that you don't care about and are wiling to throw out afterwards, use warm water so it sets faster.

Used this for a body part cloning experiment. Compared to the stuff that came in the kit, this is amazing.

The color changing mechanism is invaluable for determining when it's ready to set, and it was easy to control how quickly it set with the temperature of the water used. The powder also has a very pleasant smell to it. It was quite easy to mix and didn't lump up like some other powders.

Would definitely recommend and use again!

I bought this to make non-toxic hand and foot impressions of our kids, but it is an epic fail for this project.

1) The mixed alginate goes from sticky lumpy mud to rubbery firm in a few seconds. We tried five times to catch this little window of opportunity for our hand impressions, but never succeeded.

2) It warps and shrinks significantly while drying. Though we never succeeded in getting an acceptable impression, we did keep the best of the lot on the counter to dry overnight. In the morning, the once 7 inch flat pancake with a faint toddler sized hand impression had turned into a very warped newborn sized dollar pancake (about 3 inches).

We are going with regular plaster of Paris for the next round.
