At about $10.00/can, this product is not worth the money. It's sort of deceptive that 8oz of paint is in a 16oz can, you can feel it's about 1/2 full, and it runs out quick! I HIGHLY recommend starting on the flat (horizontal) surfaces first! About 1/2 way through the can, you won't be able to tilt it anymore and get a good even spray without it 'spitting'. The second half of the can you use on the vertical parts. A SIX PACK does not do an entire 3-seat sofa! You will need at LEAST 10 cans to do this, minimum. Each can of this product lasts about 1/2 as long as a comparable can of regular spray paint.
I bought this product to turn a DARK GREEN sofa black, should be easy, right? Nope! I knew I had only one shot at this so I approached it carefully. I started on one side to see how much area this product would cover, and the first can did about 4 cubic feet. I immediately realized I could NOT do the entire sofa so I did NOT do the back side. I barely got adequate coverage for ONE COAT not including the back of the couch. So now I have a REALLY dark grennish-black sofa.
Of course, there was one defective can in the batch and that didn't help. If this were $2-3/can I would say go for it, but at $10/can, it's not worth the money....

I forgot to note that there was a very rough feeling to the couch after this was applied. I thought it would go away after some use, but it didn't. It gave the smooth velour couch a rough scratchy feel, and if you sit on it with no shirt, it's very uncomfortable! In fact, even with short sleeves! Almost everyone that sits on it notices the "strange feeling". If they don't say something, I ask them, because I see them rubbing it, and they say, "I was about to ask...". On a durability note, it still looks the same after considerable 'rec room' usage.

Works as advertised. I painted a white/tan love seat from Ikea black. I am very satisfied by the result. I am disappointed by how many bottles it took. I had to use at least 12 to cover the whole thing twice. That cost me over $120 with shipping. I expected to be able to paint it for half that cost. The spray is inconsistent and doesn't cover very much area even when at full power. My fingers were very sore after use because you have to squeeze so hard to hope for a relatively consistent spray. Way more difficult to use than spay paint and doesn't cover nearly as much area either.
But it works on fabric, so there you go.

I have used the duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint. It flaked off after a few years, so I thought I'd give this a try. This product was a waste. I sprayed three cans of it into one fabric bench seat, and just barely changed the color. It went from tan to medium brown, when I was trying for black. I ended up going back to the duplicolor instead. It may peel in a few years, but at least it looks good for now.

So, I'm a big fan of vintage furniture and I found myself a couple of amazing mid century chairs at the swap-meet recently. While reupholstering them would have cost me about $500 I figured since they were in ok condition (just color worn) I would give Simply Spray a chance. With a lot of good press, videos, examples, endorsements etc. I was excited to give my restoration budget a little break.
In a nutshell, the overall look of the end product is great, if that was the only thing I was providing this rating on, I'd give this review 5 stars.
HOWEVER I'm not, so there are some things you need to know before you make this investment that I wish I was aware of!
There is no question that the amount suggested by Simply Spray for a project like mine was accurate. My chairs were a very light yellow color and I chose Midnight Black to modernize them. I used 6 cans on one chair excluding the removable seat cushion. I decided since that cushion removed, I'd dye it black to save me more cost from the fabric paint as well as allow me to keep the seat cushion feeling more like the original fabric versus "a very apparent" textured feel of the rest of the chair from the spray.
I had to order another 6 cans for the second chair, which I hadn't expected, so now I'm up over $120 in spray, not to mention time. I am left with some good appearing chairs but frankly no longer nearly as comfortable as they were plush and very soft before. I'm not sure if the word "soft" that was used consistently in all the Simply Spray marketing and on the can has a standard of identity; because my impression of soft was nothing like the end result and again light years away from what was felt before the Fabric spray. In my case these will be used in a vacation rental and likely not that often, thank goodness, because I really wouldn't want them to be part of any regular activity.
I'm a marketing guy and I can understand the hype of identifying an opportunity, creating a product solution and all the launch demands. In conclusion, I think the idea of a fabric paint spray solution is brilliant, and it's relevance is maintained from my POV. Kudos to Simply Spray for bringing the idea to an early reality. However, I just hope they evolve this unique product solution and work out the bugs based on consumer feedback and correct some of the unfortunate misleading information that come with the product and projects of sort. Godspeed to them in the evolution, I imagine there is a lot of competition searching out how they can play into this new innovation!
To those of you who have already gone down the same path as me and ventured into this with high expectations and came out a little disappointed, I feel the pain and the reward. To those of you considering this product; my suggestions are; 1. Avoid any furnishings you will or intend to use daily 2. Double your estimated quantity needed, and 3. Have fun with it!

One can gave me two coats on small dining room chair cushions. More of a dark grey. So very expensive to paint. If you really want black, it is cheaper to get it reupholstered at a shop.
