Buy The Color Wheel Company Gray Scale and Value Finder gray scale

The Color Wheel Company Gray Scale and Value Finder gray scale and value finder

I have the August 2010 printed version of this product. I love the design of it. Black is labeled value 1 and white is labeled value 10,with 8 shades of gray between black and white. The problem I have with it is that gray shades 2-9 each seem to be a step too dark. The difference between black and value 2 is almost imperceptible. Likewise, there is a seemingly large value step between white (value 10) and value 9. This difference could easily be split in half and each other value could be moved up one notch, dropping the current, near black, value 2. On my version of this gray scale, value 9 looks like value 8 on the photo show here on Amazon. Also note that this is made of thin gray cardboard material, like that which is used in packaging small products with a clear plastic clamshell. If you get paint on it, it is probably not going to wash off without water damage. If they could fix the grays and make it out of a more durable matte finish plastic, I would give it 5 stars.

Despite my negative comments, this is the only gray scale I can find to buy and it is still a useful product for the artist. I especially like the cut out holes along the edge that allow you to view your subject surrounded by the gray value.

As a grey scale it is ok but almost $7 for a small piece of cardboard seems steep. For the price I thought it would be plastic or something that I could put paint directly on it to check the value rather than a small, thin [bent] piece of cardboard.

I also have the August 2010 version of the Gray Scale and Value Finder. I completely concur with A. Blum that the values could be in more equal steps. I am a fiber artist and it is not around wet mediums so I never thought about the vulnerability of the light cardboard, but it would be a problem for a painter. I suppose it could be covered in a mat contact paper and carefully cut out. Overall, I am thrilled to have such a useful tool for a few bucks! when I am tired, or the light at night isn't as good, this tool always comes to my aid. when I am questioning the relative values of fabrics for an art quilt project, it is always there to provide the answer. I wish I knew who said it because it is essential knowledge, "color gets all the credit but contrast does all the work!" This is a worthwhile and very inexpensive gift for all art students.

Honest reviews on The Color Wheel Company Gray Scale and Value Finder gray scale

the format is good (the keyholes help if you are trying to match grayscale values in a scene, for a drawing); but this is just printed on not-very-sturdy thick, coated paper.

I had trouble finding a gray scale so took a chance on this one but as suspected

and said in other reviews it is a thin piece of cardboard about 4" X 6" and only

has 10 values on it. It was wrinkled when received also. I may be able to use

it for some things but wish I could find a better one that's plastic or heavier

cardboard.

This is truly an amazing product. Ive used it in several projects including customizing model horses and sculpting and have gotten amazing results. Ive tried other 2 part epoxies before, but this one blew them all away. It was easy to mix and is firm enough to sculpt and hold without being too firm to shape. I was especially amazed by how far a little bit goes with this! With the amount of projects you can complete with just a little bit of the apoxie sculpt, you truly get ten times what you paid for! Its absolutely fantastic. I would recommend this product to anyone who does any sort of sculpting, customizing, or even just repairing objects! (using it to repair a broken flash drive casing actually) This product is really versatile and well worth the money!

The clay is super amazing! It air dries so you don't have to worry about making your oven smell like with some household clays, and there is zero shrinkage while it dries. I've found that the mean time it takes to dry is ~3 hours, but it also depends on temp and such in the room you are working it. It's also really strong when dry and doesn't break easily. I made a small box thing and dropped it on a tile floor and it didn't break. Likewise I could also stand on it and it didn't break.

Only con to the clay: the shipping cost is crazy stupid.I'm going to see if I can find this at home depot or something when I run out because shipping is insane.

I just got back into modeling about a year ago and I wanted to make the classic monster models of my youth. Wanting to make them better then back then, I'm using better painting skills and really going for detail. There was one thing missing, THIS STUFF! No more seams and gaps that otherwise can't be avoided when building these models. I'm even going to go back and re-do some of my other models using this. A little goes a long way, you can dip your finger in some water and spread this right down the seams. Sand and paint and the seams are gone. Highly recommended for modelers.

Honest reviews on Apoxie Sculpt 1 Lb. White

Great for modeling, the fact that it sands down leaves you a ton of options when converting models, The Artplace, Inc is a great store. They are one of the best companies I have ever dealt with in a long time. They have always taken care of me.

No problems with this product at all. I've used it in my mixed media work for years. One test piece has been in my garden for years, and the only sign of wear has nothing to do with the Apoxie. Great Bond. Easy to work. Easy to work with. I'll buy lots & lots more.

Got the set on sale. I'd never used an airbrush before. The items in the kit are more than sufficent for the hobbyist or tinkerer. The instructions even include tips on how to use the product and a short set of lessons. Internet sources said the bottle tops fit testor paint bottles, however this was not the case in the set I received. Easy to clean and break down. I'd reccomend buying a cleaning brush set to go along with it. In all, pleasantly surprised!

I have been doing pastels for years and this brand is my favorite. A good product for starting this medium. Break them in half before using and they work better, I think. Also, they are rather difficult to get out of the box so if you pick up the insert, you can bend the plastic slightly to get a grip on the chalk. Have fun!

Excellent Quality set. Used by many pastel artists especially since you can get a large selection of colors . I recommend the set of 96.

I always have these in my pastel box

Best Deals for Prismacolor Nupastel Set, 24 Colored Pastels(27049)

I don't know what everybody else has been getting, but the ones that came in my box are exactly what they're supposed to be like. Sure they're fragile, but no more so than they're supposed to be. If they were less fragile, you'd have to re-learn how to use them, and maybe they wouldn't even do the job you wanted them to do. So these are exactly what they say they are. They might break, but that's just because that's what they are. Mine were pretty well packed, but I guess that's something that's up to the seller, so you might check on your seller's reviews if you're exceptionally concerned with your pastels getting broken. In my experience, however, broken pastels work just as well as intact ones. In fact, sometimes I break them on purpose for some specific purpose in a particular drawing. Those same broken pastels are still perfectly good for future use.

But once again, these pastels are not more fragile than any pastel should be, so if they're well handled and if the USPS does its job properly without some sort of accident along the way, your pastels really ought to arrive completely intact as mine did.

Oh, and the pastels work perfectly fine with no problems and nothing unexpected or improper. They're great. I shall surely buy them again many times.

Honest reviews on Prismacolor Nupastel Set, 24 Colored Pastels(27049)

Great semi-hard chalks. Excellant color selection. Blend beautifully and a joy to work with. I had a set of larger pastels and these allow me to add fine line definition. So glad I bought these

If you don't count the price, it's a perfect product. Only two pastels were cracked, and they were broken in the middle, which is where I break them anyways. Great color and exactly what I was looking for.

Being fairly new to painting, I wanted a cheaper set, with multiple colors, just to play with. Keep in mind that my oil paints I spent a good bit of money on, but acrylics being the different animal that they are, I didn't want to spend a fortune. I LOVE this set!!

The colors are bold, varied, and a decent quality from what I have experienced...

Once out, I am surely going to buy this brand again!!

Buy Janome 350e Memory Craft Embroidery Machine

Janome 350E Memory Craft Embroidery Machine
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
I've been using the 350E for several weeks now, and I LOVE it. It is my first experience with an embroidery machine, and was so easy to learn how to use. I have had a Janome Memory Craft sewing machine for many years now, and have always been pleased with it. So, I wasn't looking to buy a sewing/embroidery machine combination. After looking at many of the other models on the market, and deciding that I wanted an "embroidery only" machine, the Janome 350E won hands down. The quality of the stitching is great. And, it has features that are only offered on some of the more expensive models made by other companies. As mentioned before, it is very easy to use right out of the box. I purchased it from a local dealer, and was given a lesson right there in the shop. I was operating the machine on my own within about 10 minutes.

There are a few quirks that seem to be peculiar to the 350E. One issue is that, while the display screen is very easy to see and user friendly, the setting for it's clarity changes on it's own while I'm embroidering. I have to reset it's brightness/contrast several times in a sitting. The model in the showroom did the same thing and I was told that it's just the way it is. This certainly wasn't a deal breaker for me, but a little irritating that Janome has not been able to get this right.

The other quirk that I found is that the "low bobbin" warning doesn't always work. Again, I have read that this is another issue with the model, in general. Sometimes I get no warning until the bobbin totally runs out. Sometimes I get a brief message on the screen....if I happen to catch it while it is displayed. And, sometimes I get the audible beep along with the message. I'm going to speak with my dealer about this. But, again, I have read that this is a common issue.

Other than those two things, I am completely thrilled with this machine. And, these two issues are the only reason I gave the Janome 350E 4 stars. In every other aspect, I would give it a 10 star rating.

I've now used this machine for about six weeks, and find that I needed to downgrade my 4 star rating to a three star rating. My LED screen has failed. Luckily it is under warranty, and my dealer has ordered a replacement part. But, after being a Janome user for almost 17 years, I am really disappointed to have this issue in just these few weeks of ownership.

NEW DOWNGRADE TO MY REVIEW. It is now October, and I've had my 350E for 8 months. I got a new screen installed in my machine a few months ago. While it is better, it still fades in and out until the machine warms up. I'm not pleased at all with this, but it seems to be the way it is. AND, today, in the middle of sewing some Halloween designs, my machine totally locked up and is in error message mode. I understand it is probably a sensor problem, so back to the shop it goes. I am going to see if they will either give me a new replacement for this machine, or give me my money back. Two major problems in 8 months is totally unacceptable, especially since I hardly used the machine over the summer months. As I stated earlier, I am so disappointed in Janome.

I've had this machine (purchased from my local quilt shop) for about a full month now and am LOVING it! I started out with the 200e which was okay, but for the money (I paid) I needed more machine. This 350e will last me forever (esp once I get that 'Digitizer Jr!). A tiny bit disappointed in the designs (only SOME) that are loaded on the machine, but WAY over HALF of them are very useable for pillowcases, blouses, etc .. even just frame-able art, if you are so inclined. Now, I am still very new to machine embroidery, so some more experienced users may disagree about the designs and their uses. There are several butterflies, lots of flowers (daisies and roses) in individual arrangements and in baskets, several pieces of fruit, some household items (don't want to give away everything!), and some really pretty borders.

The bobbin winder is impossibly (scary!) fast. The auto needle threader works without a hitch ~ perfect every time (unlike the 200e never did work in the two weeks I had it!). OHH .. this machine has a "low bobbin thread" warning !! Love that! And there is the ability to skip around the design and stitch just what you have the thread for! Love that too ! If the thread breaks or runs out, there is the thread counter and arrows so you can go back to the exact spot the thread stopped ... and it works too ... I ran out of the bobbin thread, heard the warning beep and let it go to see what would happen then used those "back up arrows" and got right back in position. LOVE THIS MACHINE !! I know there are fancier machines out there, but this one is just right. OHH, and the AUTO THREAD CUTTER when 'that color' is finished is WUNNERFUL !!! :D Making and saving your own designs is easy too.

Can you tell I'm happy?

______________________________

UPDATE as of 2 APRIL 2012 ... well, not so happy right this minute :( .. machine has been in the shop for 2 weeks as of last Saturday. My BOBBIN WINDER has been on the fritz. Took it back to the shop where I bought it and their "mechanic" has been out on some sort of personal leave (surgery I think) and he's doing the best he can to work while recovering (poor guy, but you know how times are!). Evidently they had to send my machine off someplace. I called to check on it Saturday and it's still going to be up to 2 more weeks :(((.

Also having TENSION ISSUES, but I think that is going to end up being a result of the thread I bought here on Amazon Polyester Embroidery Thread Set 40 Spools (500 meter spools/40 wt.) Set D Brilliant Colors ... maybe, maybe not.. not sure yet, but several things I've worked on have not come out very well, and I was using that thread. It's too loose on the spool once the machine starts working, either standing up or laying on the Janome 350e's horizontal spindle. I've got brand name thread, just don't want to use it :) but I'm going to have to I guess ... I've got an nice machine to make nice gifts, gonna have to do the right thing and use the right stuff. It doesn't pay to cut corners ... It COSTS. Please learn from my experience. I think the thread may be okay for some applications, but I'm not going to spend/waste a whole lot of time adjusting tensions and fiddling with stabilizers to figure out what goes with what ... I've got good thread, good stabilizer and an average tension I know works, so I'm done with it. I've got it if I need it, but other than that, never mind it for good embroidery.

------------

UPDATE = May 24, 2012 ... I should have done this a couple of weeks ago. Got my baby back (LOL!) and to make a long story short, I sort of ended up fixing it, another LOL, HMPH! The bobbin winder still wasn't working right when I got it home (NOTE TO SELF, and OTHERS ... ALWAYS check the work that's been done (if possible). Dummy me, I didn't check the bobbin winder before I left the store ;( .. just happened to have an Embroidery Class that day too (had plenty of time) Anyway. I got home and set out to fill some bobbins ~ wasn't working right, fortunately I was the only thing steam was coming out of! So I kept pressing the machine to go on and fill the dang bobbin 'cause it knew it wanted to ..... and so it finally did! But now I think it doesn't stop like it is supposed to 8-}, you know, like when it gets full .... I may be wrong about that, it's just that I watch it so closely that I stop it when it Looks like it should stop .. I'm a little afraid to let it keep going. But I think it's going to be okay now. I love my Janome 350e ... I've done so much with it since I've gotten it back .. Free Standing Lace, monograms on handtowels, I'm making something for my hubby for Father's Day ... Very Happy! (again :-)

Best Deals for Janome 350e Memory Craft Embroidery Machine

I purchased this machine from a very helpful dealership that I already had experience with. I want it mainly for embroidering altar linens so I have been purchasing various Christian crosses and other related Christian embroidery designs off of the internet. I have two other Janome machines from the same shop, and the attachments and operating buttons, bobbins, threading, etc. are the same for all three, which is so helpful.

So far, I have had no problems at all with the machine, and it is so easy to operate. The screen menu items are easy to decipher and the ones I have used so far, make sense, that is, the icon images on the touch screen are not ambiguous, but represent just what you would guess that they represent.

A lady at the shop got me started with the basic steps to go through to get the stabilizer and the fabric into the hoop correctly and get the hoop hooked up to the machine at the back. She also recommended the best kind of stabilizer for the jobs I am doing. It is the "dissolves-in-water" kind, and is very slick. Works well.

My first altar linens have come out very well with various beautiful cross designs in gold. I have been pleasantly surprised at how easy the machine is to set up. It also tells you on the screen if you have done something wrong, and it won't run typically if there is something wrong, so that you can correct the problem before it damages your project.

I sure have my fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong with the machine as others have described. So far, I couldn't be happier! I have wanted to embroider altar linens for a very long time. So satisfying to be able to do it at last! I love Janomes, really, but also, an honest, helpful dealership makes so much difference!

I would like to add to this review that the biggest hoop this machine takes is the 5" by 7" hoop, so it won't do big projects.

Also something that I learned after I got started using the machine: if downloading embroidery patterns from the web and putting them onto a memory stick to use in the machine, don't get a huge-capacity stick, and keep only a max of fewer than 20 designs on one stick. The embroidery machine can't read a stick with lots of designs or lots of memory on it, even if the stick itself has plenty of room for more designs. You end up "losing" some of the designs on the stick because the machine can't find all of them. This is one of the things that the instruction booklet won't tell you. Ask your dealership how big a memory stick to use and how many designs to keep on it.

Honest reviews on Janome 350e Memory Craft Embroidery Machine

I bought my Janome 350E used in March 2012. I have had no problems with this machine at all except operator error. For example, I have tried to use a flash drive that has too many designs on it and it kind of fritz-es out. Then I read, I need a 1 or 2 gb flash drive. I am currently using a 4 gb but only putting one large design on it at a time.

But since this is an older machine now and not really TOTL anymore, what can I expect? It makes beautiful, beautiful stitches and I have had so much fun since buying it almost a year ago. it came with a 4x4 (140x140 mm) hoop and a 5.5x7.9(140x200 mm) hoop.

The only thing I really regret is not discovering machine embroidery years ago. If you have a chance to get a Janome 350E for a great price and are looking for an embroidery machine, jump at it.

This has given me a taste for wanting a machine with a larger than a 200x140 mm hoop (not counting the Giga Hoop since you can't actually do a large design without rehooping)--so saving up for something larger to have in addition. I keep wishing Janome would put out another embroidery only machine with large hoop capabilities!

I LOVE this machine! It is so easy to use straight out of the box! I previously had a Singer CE-150 and the Janome is a MUCH better machine. There are tons of designs built in and it is very easy to add new designs using a USB memory stick. I highly recommend this Janome machine!

Review of Clover - Bamboo Single Point Knitting Needles 9" - Size

Clover Takumi 9-Inch Single point, Size 7
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

These needles were purchased to use as tools in teaching a class in beginning knitting. They are smooth and lightweight but strong enough to allow for dropping and/or tight clenches. I'm sure they could break but I've never experienced a problem with them. It was great to be able to buy enough needles in a single size here. We live in a rural area nearly 100 miles from the closest yarn shop. The price was right and the quality was great!

A few years ago, a friend tried to teach me to knit continental-style on those old aluminum needles. I tried and tried, but I just couldn't get the hang of it. The yarn kept falling off the needles. A few weeks ago I heroically decided I was going to knit my boyfriend a scarf for Christmas. No ifs, ands, or buts about it; it was going to happen or I'd die trying. I watched the videos on youtube and other online websites and noticed that a lot of people use bamboo needles. So I bought a pair of Clover size 8 needles and some yarn and got started. What a difference bamboo makes. I now knit and purl away. Perhaps it also helps that I use the American/English/throwing knitting style now, which is purported to be easier for beginners. The needles grip the yarn snugly enough so that I don't drop stitches as I used to. The yarn doesn't slide sloppily all over the place, yet there is enough slack to knit comfortably and easily. Since these are only 9" long, they are much more ergonomic and put less strain on the hands and wrists than the longer needles do. My scarf is coming along so nicely that a few days ago I ordered a pair of Brittany needles in size 19 and have since started a thicker, chunkier scarf for myself. Next project: a knit hat and knitting in the round. (Wish me luck!)

Bottom line: if I can knit, so can you. I'm not artsy in any way, a fact that I've always lamented. But now I too delight in going in craft stores, places I'd previously only gazed at from afar, because I never had any idea how to USE anything I found inside. I can't draw, paint, or play a musical instrument, but I CAN knit and crochet and create awesome things. Finally I've triumphed in channeling my artistic inner child! Get these needles. You won't regret it. In my very limited experience, both Brittany and Clover needles are fantastic for the beginning knitter.

Best Deals for Clover - Bamboo Single Point Knitting Needles 9" - Size

As a beginner knitter, it was recommended that I use wooden needles. The shorter length has made it easier for me to control what I am doing. Also, the bamboo makes the yarn slip just enough, but not too much as in with acrylic or metal needles.

Overall, a good price. My next purchase will be circular needles.

Honest reviews on Clover - Bamboo Single Point Knitting Needles 9" - Size

I'm just learning how to knit and I bought these based off of the other reviews. At first I thought they were a little difficult to use because they are a bit small. I bought some larger plastic ones thinking that they'd be easier to knit with but the points were dull on them so I went back to these because the points are sharper making it easier to grasp the yarn with. The bamboo allows the yarn to glide nicely without being too slippery where you lose stitches.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Clover - Bamboo Single Point Knitting Needles 9" - Size

Got this so I could practice. I talked to a couple knitters. They recommended this type and brand due to the price and also the comfortability for beginners. I'm glad I got this. I tried some of the metal ones, which did feel more sturdy but were slippery. The bamboo ones seem to be able to hold the worsted weighted yarn pretty well. I have smaller hands so I prefer to work with smaller kneedles on smaller projects. I think the longer kneedles can be kind of akward to manipulate, especially if you are just starting out and learning how to knit. The price on Amazon is also very reasonable. I went to Michael's and other stores, which were trying to sell these for a bit more. I liked my first set so much, I bought another of different point.

For those who don't know, the inches tell you how long the knitting needle is. The point size tells you how big the diameter of the point of the kneedle is. If you want to learn how to knit, you should try getting worsted weight yarn (because it is thick) and a needle point size similar to this one so you will have bigger loops in your knit. I have found that it is easier to manipulate bigger loops than smaller ones when you start.

I will be honest this kit is not perfect. But none of the interchangable needle kits you can buy actually are, so I can't really count that against this kit.

For the most part, I really like this kit. Here are just a few things it has going for it:

Widely available, and quite affordable if you have a weekly coupon from a certain popular craft store ;-)

Needles are pretty colors which keeps things interesting

Wider range of needle sizes than other kits

Allows you to make a twenty inch circular which, while not as short as the seventeen inch you can make with a certain other kit, is shorter than the twenty-four inch you can make with yet another kit

Metal needles, which I prefer to plastic or wood all types of yarn slip nice and easy

Nice points, not too sharp and not too dull

Individual pieces can be bought separately

Storage case is compartmentalized well and not too ugly

However, here is what it has against it:

Shortest circular you can make is twenty inches, which, while better than the twenty-four inch you can make with one kit, is not as nice at the seventeen inch you can make with another (works with a struggle for a hat, too short for collars)

Cables are a little on the stiff side and the bend where it joins the needle is a little weird HOWEVER it is not as bad as the non-interchangable Boye circulars (I hate those)

Some people complain that the cables and needles come unscrewed frequently but I really have not had a huge problem with this

My biggest complaint Boye needles are weird sizes compared to other brands. While Boye claims to set the standard, pretty much every brand is different in diameter (consistently so) for sizes six, nine, ten, and seventeen. I have no idea why.

This kit would be perfect if the sizes were the same as all other lines and it had a shorter cable option. As it stands, I still really do like this kit and recommend it but rather than actually view it as being all the needles you ever need, you might want to have a few needles of another brand in those four sizes that Boye makes strangely.

I bought this set (using a coupon at a craft store website) when I first decided to get into knitting. It serves its purpose well, and has accompanied me through a lot of my early learning. You can use these as straight or circular needles, in all the standard sizes; it really is potentially all you'd need for most projects, but you can order additional cords in larger sizes, extra end caps, and other items you might find helpful if you become more serious about knitting. I think that circular needles are easier to hold than straights and put less weight on your hands as you work-which is very helpful after a long period of knitting. It is even possible to fudge double-pointed-needle patterns with this set; search knitting video websites for help on how to do that.

As you become more serious, though-dare I call it Knitpicky?-there'll be things that might lure you away from this, your first set. Many people end up preferring bamboo or wooden or plastic needles, for example; these are metal. Others want to learn new techniques for knitting small items, like the Magic Loop method; this set isn't compatible with that. A lot of knitters end up opting for other needle systems, like the Denise system or the Knitpicks Options system. (If you want to read a good comparison between the Denise and the Boye systems, look up the review at knitty dot com by Amy Singer).

But why worry about all those possibilities just now? If you're beginning, this set will serve for quite some time. You can upgrade later with all the money you saved from not having to buy individual sets of needles for each of your first few projects.

But I still haven't upgraded mine, and it's been five years now.

ps-The coming-unscrewed problem other reviewers mention can be avoided by using the included tighteners religiously whenever you start a new project (I don't, because I'm lazy and impatient, and still rarely have problems).

Best Deals for Needlemaster 40-Piece Interchangeable Aluminum Knitting Set

I got this set when I first started knitting as that was much easier and cheaper than buying all the straights and circular needles. While it was nice having all the different size needle right there, they would come unscrewed which was annoying and they would disconnect and they stitches would be dropped. I had to check quite frequently that they were not coming unscrewed. I tried knitting with the smallest needles, and the yarn kept getting caught at the connection, because it was wider than the needle. so since we were traveling, we had to stop at a store so I could get dpns of the size I needed instead. I ended up selling these and getting the Denice interchangeable. I like them MUCH better and don't have the same issues.

Honest reviews on Needlemaster 40-Piece Interchangeable Aluminum Knitting Set

In response to some of the other reviews here, I'd like to add my own experiences with the Boye Needlemaster.

Having crocheted since I was a child, I took up knitting when I retired. It's been an adventure trying out all the new techniques in knitting. I can't get over how much less yarn I need to complete a knitted project, then crocheted.

Two winters ago I discovered that the 16" circular is what I needed for hats, and I started a collection 16'' circulars, and found that the Boye circular needles were my favorite, for their smoothness, long points and sturdiness. Some of the other needles (bamboo, plastic, etc.) actually came loose from the cords and were not repairable. Or the yarn would stick at the connection, or it was too awkward to join the circle, because the needles were so straight.

Last fall I started making scarves lenghtwise and triangular shawls, and found that I could get well over 72" of knitting on the 29"" circular. I couldn't spread it out and see how it looked, but I could work on it quite easily, I just needed point protectors when I put it down.

This fall I started a new triangular shawl, where the 2 short sides of the triangle are on the needles. I was working it without any problems, but I couldn't tell how big it was getting or how I looked.

Then I saw this set on E-bay at a very low price with no bids on it. I came over here to Amazon to check out the reviews of the set, which really is expensive, even in the craftstore with the coupon. I couldn't understand why no one was bidding on it. Boye has always been my favorite in crochet hooks and single points, so I went ahead and bid it up. I guess it was my lucky day because I won a brand new set of the Boye needlemaster for a song!

When it came in the the mail, a few days later, I took the 2 longest cables and joined them up with the needle size I was using and I knit my shawl from my 29" needles to this set and I was able to spread it out and try it on. Now I could see that it was coming out beautifully and that it was almost done! As I worked my second row with the Needlemaster, halfway across I found that because the cable was so long, it was curling up and making it difficult for the stitches to move along. I was glad to come to end of the row and shorten the cable.

A 29" circular is sufficient for most projects, except that you can't see how it's progressing. With this set, however I can switch over to a longer cable and back again. Because I find it so much easier to work with the shorter cord. Try it!

To sum up:

It's very handy having all the sizes and all the cord lengths in one little package, because I'm always switching needles and lengths around to find the just the right size.

The connections won't come apart easily, they screw on with quite a few turns they can't slip off.

If you need a longer or shorter cable as you go, you can just change over.

The connections are very smooth, even smoother than than some of the joined circulars out there.

The connecting ends of the needles are tapered to a smooth point and could probably be used as double points in a pinch, like to finish off a hat.

I think that some of the bad reviews were from people who are not very expeienced with other types of knitting needles. You can get along with this one set just fine. I couldn't ask for a better set of knitting needles. I am just as pleased with this set of Boye interchangeable needles as I have been with other Boye products.

I bought this set after someone at work showed me hers. As an amateur knitter, I think this set is wonderful. Because I do all of my knitting (even straight knitting) on circular needles, it was so much easier to buy the set than to buy all of the different needles and cable sizes needed to complete all of my projects.

For those of you having trouble keeping the cables tight, make sure you use the key that is given. After you twist it by hand as much as it will go, get the key and the rubber grip and twist it the rest of way (instructions are on the instruction sheet). This is a VERY important step. I decided to skip this step once, and my needles and cables came apart. Hopefully, this will solve your problem; if not, I would call the company.

I bought this stuff to use with my acrylic painting.

I like this floating medium for several reasons...

1) it keeps the paint on your palette from drying so fast and

2) it thins the paint so that the acrylics can be used as more of a glaze like watercolors (acrylics are opaque for the most part).

Sometimes though a mistake can be very very helpful. I unthinkingly used this one day with my underglazes while bisque painting ceramic tiles. (There is a somewhat similar rewetting substance for underglazes) It was not until I was cleaning up for the day that I realized my mistake and by then it was inappropriate to consider undoing the areas that I painted. I decided to go ahead with my firing. I fired my work with this floating medium blended into the underglazes up to cone 04 with no problems at all! The colors were vibrant there was no raising or crazing. Oh and there was another

use for it on bisque-ware too.... with a stiff brush it can help remove any unwanted (unfired) colors.

This stuff is really really useful in so many ways and apparently with many different medias too.

Floating medium arrived partly open, spilled on the label of the Magic Palette Guide, however it did not cause any serious damage to the mixing guide itself. About an eight of the liquid was gone.

I had tried Decoart's floating medium and it's too runny. This is perfect for any acrylic color paint use. Highly recommended!

I like this product better than the other floating mediums I've tried. The thickness makes it easier for me to control.

the ends keep coming off. I had to glue them in order for them to uses them. Once this was done they work well very smooth while knitting

Yarn slides just right, yarn doesn't slip off the needle and doesn't drag either. Happy to reach for these needles when I start a project.

I bought these knitting needles to use as mandrels for winding wire for making chainmaille jewelry. I have a winding tool that fastens onto the end of the needle and a handle that lets me wind easily. The knitting needles are sized by millimeter which makes it handy to make rings of specific sizes. And if I ever decide to go back to knitting, I'm all set.

The product description is wrong. It states this will punch a 2 1/2" square. The punched square is approximately 1 3/4". This is much smaller than I needed since I thought I was ordering a 2 1/2" punch. I'm not happy about that. We count on product descriptions to be accurate when ordering online!! The punch itself is a nice punch. It cuts clean. Too bad amazon screwed up the description, otherwise would've given it 5 stars.

I have been knitting for 40 years and I bought these bobbins since I was doing an intarsia sweater. I had never attempted intarsia, so thought the bobbins would be invaluable to keep all the yarns that are necessary for the pattern, in order. They were not and instead were the cause of much frustration.

The bobbins do not hold the yarn securely...they were always unraveling no matter how many different configurations I tried in my futile attempt to keep them from unwinding. When they weren't unwinding, they were knocking in to each other because they are rather wide.

I learned that if you are doing intarsia...you can either use the clip clothespins or even better...just cut the yarn to about 18 inches and let it hang behind. Much easier to just pull the yarn through each time than to deal with bobbins.

Save your money.

If you need this bobbin for yarn, it is way to small. I don't think you could wrap medium-weight yarn around it 10 times because of the size.

These are just exactly what I was looking for. They make my project so much easier to handle. Shipment was very quick, so I didn't wait very long for them to arrive.

Honest reviews on Clover Bobbin Set, 6-Piece

Nice, easy to use on a multitude of projects, I actually ordered more for the project I am using instead of so many dangling yarn balls. The little side slits hold the yarn in secure. I wish I would have discovered these little holders years ago.

The knitting bobbins I ordered arrived in a very short time and I am very satisfied with them. This saved me time and I did not have to go snooping at fabric stores for this product.

I bought these mannequins on a whim because I have been looking for something to model clothes to sell online. I was interested in purchasing a dress form mannequin but didn't want to spend that much money right away. These are very sturdy, hard, thick plastic, and if you're looking for something to model clothing for selling/photographic purposes, I'd say get these. If you have a door hanger for towels or a robe, this will hang on there just fine.

You can't beat the buttery, hand rolled, beautiful intense pigments of theses fantastic pastels! I have other pastels makes but Mt. Vision pastels are by far the best!

I've tried the blues in this set, but on an earlier pastel, I used MV's oranges and pinks. Gorgeous colors and they lay down rich and intense. Even received some of MV's other sets for Mother's Day and then had to buy a case for large pastels so I could sit and enjoy the display of colors. Only caution -you'll have to wash your hands more frequently because they are so soft. Great addition to the harder style of pastel. If they're too chunky for your use, a judious break into some smaller pieces works. And, oh yeah, they come at a reasonable price.

Not too hard or too soft ..... Beautiful colors at a reasonable price. Recommend highly. Good for beginning to experienced artists

Honest reviews on Mount Vision Pastel Company 25-Piece Chromatic Set

Beautiful pastels, very vibrant, arrived unbroken and in good shape, good deal. They are medium-soft rather than very soft and work best probably for underpainting or the middle stages of a pastel painting rather than the finishing touches.

Amazing product at an ever perfect price. So pleasant to work with and so soft they are unbelievable. Never thought pastels could be so fun and hassle free to apply. My previous experience with pastels, lead me to believe that they were all just compressed pigment, hard and rough, however I decided to try Mount Vision Pastels, because a friend highly recommended them to me. And behold. I fell in love. Thank you Mount Vision for producing such a wonderful product, one that all artists can appreciate and utilize.
