I ordered this stencil for the seashells to use for making a set of coasters and a table runner. When I pulled out the stencil it was thinner than I expected it to be. When wiping off the paint I had to be careful not to bend any little pieces sticking out. The first time I used the stencil I used a paintbrush and used strokes and when I pulled away the stencil there was paint that had gotten under the stencil. So then I decided it would work better if I dab the paintbrush instead of strokes. When I pulled away the stencil it worked like a charm! You could also use a sponge to dab the paint as well. I really love this stencil and have already thought up another project to use the anchor and rope stencil for. Another piece of advice is if you are using acrylic paint you can let it dry on the stencil and carefully scratch it off if you don't want to wipe off the wet paint right after use.

I liked the shapes but the stencils won't stay down, so you have to jury rig something to make it stay, otherwise you'll get paint all up in your stencil.

The material is sturdy and it has clean cut edges, making it easy to stencil. you should buy the stencil tape (i suck at stencils and always move the stencil around and then its a mess. I also recommend buying 2 packs if you want to get the stenciling done in a resonable amount of time (that is will any stencil) I cut each design out from the mail sheet to make it easier.

I love the Martha Stewart Nautical stencils however, the ship wheel is missing one of the sort of arrows in the middle of the wheel so I was not sure if I would send it back. Maybe you can let me know what I should do.

I successfully used the stencil but found the plastic too thin for reusing the stencil as often as I would like to. I used the sea shell patterns on the wall of my bathroom but know from experience that heavier plastic stencils lay against the wall better than these do. The shell designs are very nice and not cheap looking.
