I use Gelly Rolls on M3 adhesive label paper to make street stickers that I later cut out. Although I also love the metallic and neon variety, I burned through these glaze most quickly of all. The fine ball point gives me total control to weatherproof certain parts of my sticker while allowing other inks to be exposed to the elements for a controlled fade through weathering. These are amazing for layering above and below my paint markers and various enamels and acrylics I use. These are quickly turning into a permanent item on all my Christmas and Birthday gift lists when people ask what I want, because it is impossible for a pack to last me a whole year. You can layer these below the metallic Gelly Rolls to get a nice plastic finish, whereas the metallic typically rub off on your finger a bit more w/o a glaze below. Also, since many of these glaze are tinted (which helps to not make the marks so invisible), you can create unique colors like putting a blue tint over a green paint marker layer for a sort of aquatic pearly finish. There are so many options for how to use these, but definitely pick up a pack of the metallic too, before you use these up. They get used up very quickly.Keep in mind, however, that the white variety will appear entirely translucent initially (as all Glaze do), but will dry to a milky/pearly finish.
One more minor concern: Two sheets of paper that are both covered in gloss WILL STICK TOGETHER BADLY. This is not a big deal, but in your sketch pad it could have an effect similar to covering two pages with "Modge Podge" and then letting them dry: in normal heat environments the pages will not usually stick together permanently, but separating them will make a velco-like sound and you may have some damage to the pages, however the Gelly Roll Glaze are actually even worse. When I make my street stickers, I cannot fold them in my pocket or they are likely to get ruined in the course of the night before I get a chance to post them.
Despite these minor concerns, Glaze are still my favorite type of Gelly Roll for layering and adding durability and flare.

These aren't quite what I expected. But they are unique and interesting. I orginally intended to use on an automatic/machine writer to bring out & add depth to written words already through the writer. However they are too thin lined for that purpose. Perhaps as an outline around a bit thicker written font leaving area inside the outline as the original font color. But not as a cover over the entire print. I probably will be using these on their own via hand to eye to paper the old fashion process a& skip the machine all together. I played with the pens and they don't show much on light to white paper on their own. And they don't show at all on my metalic cover stock but they do show quite sparkly on black velvet cardstock I have. I like the effect on the black but they aren't made to be used on their own they are made to go over and bring out the pre-written or print already. A highlight of sorts if you will. Which is what I wanted but due to the thin point they just fall short of my desired effect. Can't take off for that or fault the pens. I had a wee bit of skipping early on with some trials and that's the reason I dropped off a star. I checked out if they would write straight up and down and they do seem to hold their own as well as a normal slant to my hand's way of holding most pens. I can see lots of interesting potential for the scrapbooker and the card makers as to add a sparkle here or there even as small as a dot effect or dash....say shine in a corner of an eye or glimmer around the ribbon. Look forward to playing but doubt it'll become one of my reach for items. Never know though...just need the right project for the creative juices to flow and start tapping into this product. This dual package will last me a while. I'm going to see if sakura has something like it in a wider point for my initial purpose. These are really great from highlighting areas on cards, bringing out patterns on papers, etc! The texture is slick and adds a bit of class to any item! If you are looking for a 3-D effect on small areas or to bring out a phrase, they are great. I like the feel of them and so do the people, especially kids, that receive my cards. What they are not good for is writing letters or journals. Yes, they dry but if you want to do a lot of writing or fill in a large area, it will stay a TAD tacky. If you want something for dark paper (not 3-D), glass, tiles, or other non-porous surfaces, try the Soufflees. I haven't found a use them for my projects yet but their flat, matte finish will work better for the things above.I'd like to know about Sakura's Gelly RollSakura 38176 10-Piece Gelly Roll Assorted Colors Blister Card Moonlight Gel Ink Pen Set Pens. Are they simply colored pens that give you more color options for writing and what type of finish/feel do they have? I like to know what I'm getting (to avoid returns) but I'm not sure if the Gel Pens are for me. Anyone, please? Thanks in advance!
