This is an excellent deal for the Da Vinci set of pastel blending tools. I really do not use the sponge tip much, but the the chisel tip and brush tip are used quite frequently for blending and softening. I really love the large brush tip. It does not remove large portions of my pigment when I am blending it. Instead, it gives my painting a nice soft finished appearance. The chisel helps the softed edges or put sharp edge onto a painting. As for the sponge tip, the only use that I have used it for it to blend facial features on portraits and to clean up areas of misplaced pigment.

I love this stamp and punch set. Instead of stamping many different butterflies, I used black ink and just stamped one. Then I scanned it into my computer. I put it in a card making program (Print Shop) using a full page. I copied the image and pasted it along the left edge of the paper, making sure they were all in line. Then I grouped the whole line into one image, copied that, reversed it, and put it on the right side of the page. After printing a test sheet to make sure they line up on the front and back of the page, I can then change the color of the butterfly to anything I want -say dark blue -and print it on light blue paper. I then turn the paper over and print on the back side. There! I have a line of butterflies that I can punch out, with color on both sides of the wings! Fold the wings at the body and you have a very nice butterfly. Change the color to purple, print on pink paper, front and back, and you have more butterflies to punch out. Change the color again, more butterflies! I'm having a ball with this!

These are my absolute fav kind of hand paper punches (MS brand). With weak wrists and hands, I can squeeze gently and get crispy punched items to pop right out. Yay! The stamps are an added plus as you can customize your punches, or just use an acrylic block and make unique wreaths etc with the stamps :D

This punch won't go through cardstock and you have to push down hard. Wish I could have tried it first. I've read that some of the Martha Stewart punches have this problem. Still, if you're just punching a pile of them to decorate, they are cute.

When I first tried to use this platform, I thought it was defective because the black "teeth" on the bottom were missing and the platform wouldn't go through the device when the handle was turned. After much frustration and a little internet searching, I found that the platform works on pressure, not on the little gear teeth that the 4" platform works with. Place the 12" platform in the die cutting machine, put on your dies, paper, and cutting plate, then push the platform through until it won't go anymore. Now you should be able to use the handle to run the platform the rest of the way through. Good luck!

I thought this was a great idea and a nice looking design but the actual product was a disappointment. First off, the stamp was a positive, not a negative as implied by the image here and the sample card on the package. (Flowers and butterflies stamp, background doesn't) Secondly, the embossing is not very detailed and instead just kinda makes blobs around the stamped parts of the image. Not really very attractive and the embossing folder is completely useless without the stamp. Thirdly, the stamp, especially with embossing, is too large to layer on an A2 card. Fourthly, I had a difficult time getting a good impression on the entire stamp. I am an intermediate stamper so that could be user error. Also keep in mind that you will need a very large stamp block for this as it does not fit on a 4 x 6 block.

I'm not sure what the other reviewer was expecting from the folder, but the embossing folder does a very good job in outlining the images. I do wish the folder was a tad bigger to give more room to emboss then trim, but it's the standard size of all their folders. Just stamp straight!

The image inked up just fine and I have old ink pads. The fully embossed image is slightly too big, but I just trimmed it down and you can see how it turned out in the photo I uploaded.

Only reason I gave it 4 stars is becasue for some unknown reason, the packaging shows a negative image when it's a positive image. (see pictures).

I'm looking forward to getting more from this line.

These are great. I have 1 set of these, and will probably order another in the near future.

The bullet and cylinder shapes are good for all-purpose polishing. I have a harder time using the large disks, but I might have some projects in the future that they might be good for. We'll see.

The only thing I can maybe gripe about is the price. I with they were a little cheaper, but these have been some of my most-used polishing mounts. So maybe the cost is justified.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas, along with a variety of other floss (DMC brand.) While the price is right on this value pack, it is definitely lacking in quality. She breaks the thread nearly every stitch with this floss, while having no problem with DMC. I will say that she hasn't had as many problems with another pack of Janylnn (color variations), but this particular one is not worth it. Spend the extra 5 bucks on DMC.

Advanced Series En Plein Air Pro Watercolor Package Review

I have been using En Plein Air Pro Watercolor Easel for half a year now. I still love it almost as much as I did on the day it arrived but I have a bit more perspective on its advantages, disadvantages and uses. So here we go:

Pros:

-Very lightweight (the easel proper, not counting tripod and shelf, is 1lb. 5oz)

-Extremely quick and easy to set up

-Fits onto any tripod via a standard tripod mount

-Thanks to that, you can manipulate the angle of the board any way you like

-You can buy the whole package with the easel, tripod, palette shelf, and carrying bag, or pick and choose among any of these. Since I already had a decent tripod (Slik Heavy-Duty Tripod with 3-Way Fluid-Effect Head and Built-In Bubble Level), I bought the easel attachment and the shelf.

-Fits into most backpacks, which means that your entire plein air setup can be carried in one backpack (the tripod can either go inside the backpack or be attached with straps outside).

-Both the easel and the shelf have holes for holding your brushes

-Despite being so thin and lightweight, the easel is actually relatively sturdy. It is made out of ABS plastic, which you can bend a little but so far, it has stayed flat and straight.

-Has a lip on the bottom, so you can just prop up a sketchbook or sheet of paper against it without attaching it to the board

-Has a hook for hanging a water container nice idea, but this is also going to the "cons" section below

-Compared to the heavy french easels with all of their paraphernalia, En Plein Air Pro just looks cool. Anytime I paint outside with some new people, somebody asks me about the easel.

Cons:

-The above mentioned hook for the water container is on the bottom right, which makes the easel board bend and lean that way whenever a normal size water bucket (like the popular collapsible water jar) is hanging from it. I usually just put the water container in the middle of my John Pike Watercolor Palette which sits on the shelf. It looks like the Original Series easel has the hook in the middle. I'm guessing, the hanging water container was interfering with the user's ability to reach into the back of the shelf/palette, so they moved the hook to the side. The new Advanced Series Plein Air Pro palette shelf lets you put the water under the shelf, so you don't have to worry about those hooks at all.

-Since this is a portable easel, you should probably expect to be limited in your choice of painting surface sizes. In the case of this easel, anything taller than 16-17 inches feels too big. It is definitely awkward to work on something like a vertical 16×20 piece.

-Because of the angle of the tripod legs, the shelf is tilted back, towards the center of the tripod, when all three legs are extended the same amount. To correct that, I make the rear leg longer, so that the whole tripod is leaning forward. This makes the shelf level but at the expense of shifting the tripod balance. I have had it topple over at the slightest touch of my 2-year-old. (Tip. Keep those toddlers away from your easels...especially if there is something on the easels that you care about). It looks like the Advanced Series palette shelf also fixes the tilting issue by introducing adjustable tabs.

-Umbrellas for plein air are not likely to work with this kind of setup. It would just be too heavy and throw the balance to the wind. But then, I don't even own an umbrella.

As with most portable setups, you have to watch out for that wind I just mentioned and weigh the tripod down. You also need to tighten the tripod mount screw quite well before attaching the easel to the tripod otherwise, the board develops the tendency to slowly but surely rotate counterclockwise.

Because of the portability and flexibility, I use En Plein Air Pro more than my studio easel. I take it outside, I bring it to my classes, and I paint on it at home. If I didn't already have a large palette, I would likely get the Advanced palette shelf.

I have not had much opportunity to paint with this product so please consider my review a supplement to what the previous reviewer has already stated. The tripod easel that comes with this package is an above-average quality "camera" tripod. Like most camera tripods made today, there are a lot of plastic parts that cannot be forced or they will break. Because it is a camera tripod, there are endless ways that the easel can be tilted and it does take more time to set up than a traditional artist's easel. It is not mentioned in the product description that the Advanced Series En Plein Air Pro Watercolor Package also comes with a camera "shoe" so I can easily use the tripod with my camera to take a picture of the landscape before I leave and at the same perspective of my composition. The tripod also comes with it's own manufacturer's warranty, bubble level and travel case. The tripod adjusts to a comfortable height for a tall person or sitting on the ground or in a camping chair. The larger travel case for the entire package is generously-sized to hold the shelf, palette and tripod with plenty of room for the rest of my art supplies, camera and snacks. It is nicely embroidered with the product name, too. I plan on using the easel, shelf and palette in my studio but with my higher quality Bogen Manfrotto tripod with lockable dolly. The included instructions are adequate but the order blank for additional or replacement items is outdated with old prices.

Best Deals for Advanced Series En Plein Air Pro Watercolor Package

Saw this in a catalog for more money and wanted to see it in person before I put that much money into an easel. An art store (Jerry's) told me they would get one in and never did, eventually misplaced the catalog with the name of the easel and could not find it anywhere. THEN found it for less here on Amazon, ordered it and am so glad I waited.

The easel is lightweight, my number one concern, Adjusts to different heights for sitting and standing, my number 2 concern. I can adjust every single part of the set up to accommodate my needs at the moment.

The bag makes it easy to transport, fits what supplies I need to bring along with a snack and some beverage for me, water for painting, bungees and bug spray.

They tray can not take too much weight or a great deal of pressure but that shouldn't be an issue for most.

I love it.

I don't know what brought Dr. Martin's dyes to mind after all these years -Illustrator and Photoshop long ago replaced my now-ancient traditional art tools, but it's difficult not to feel nostalgic remembering the joy of using these products. This die is just gorgeous! Like all Spellbinders dies, it cuts and embosses easily and effortlessly. If you are thinking of buying this or any other Spellbinder dies, I am sure you will love it too. I have a few different ones and occasionally mix and match them. Lots of possibilities.

Tip: For easy release, place a piece of wax paper between the die and paper/cardstock. I do this the first few times I use it and then it just becomes easier to release the cardstock from the die without the wax paper.
