Sakura Souffle pens offer great effects but they are a little frustrating when you first start to use them. The ten pack has a nice assortment of colors. I had to "work the pens in" a little before the ink would flow nicely and stored the pens with the ink facing down. I had to "rework the pens in" each time I used a pen. The ink will look different when it dries, and that is the fun part. The pens also work well on acetate. Once you adjust to how the pens work the ink has a nice look and feel. I'm happy to have them as a coloring tool.

Great pens. I have several pens lines that Sakura produces, such as Glaze and Stardust. They are all top performers. Soufflé is no exception.Recently I used the white Soufflé pen on green paper evergreen trees hoping for a snow effect. I was so pleased when it dried! The white was completely opaque, matte finish and yes, slightly puffy, just like a soufflé. Love it! Can't wait to do more with these pens.
PS: Read the instructions on how to use because yes, it works better if you use slow motions to get increased ink flow. This helps with what I call ink puddles on the paper. This is exactly what you want, the ink to build up so you get that thick, very watery look. If you just hold the pens in one spot for a few moments, you'll see the ink flowing out onto the paper.
Note of caution, if you are doing multi colors next to each other, they will run into each other while in the ink puddle stage. So you may have to color in stages, letting one color dry before you apply the next color. I learned the hard way and got some very runny colors!
Drying: You'll have to let them dry for at least 10 mins, so make arrangements to set your projects aside during drying period.

These pens are very awesome, they write on just about every surface, the gel actually rises to give it a 3d look, great for adding personal touches to things like cardmaking, and fun for decorating cellphones and what not. These gel pens are a must for anyone who likes to add a personal touch to things.Honest reviews on Sakura 58350 10-Piece Blister Card Souffle Assorted Color
My 10 year old daughter received these as a gift. She loves to draw and do artwork. However, she was quickly disenchanted with these pens, as they proved difficult to use, even after following the detailed instructions. They take a long time to "work" the colors to get them started, and then you have to let them dry at least 10 minutes for the full effect. Every time you pick up a color, even if you just worked it a minute before, you have to re-work it again. The full effect then turned out to be a disappointment to my daughter. Instead of a "souffle" or "puffy" look, the ink was more of a "gel" or "glaze" look. Yes, it was pretty, but not at all what was expected. My mother, who bought the pens, said she thought they were overpriced since they were really just gel pens that you could get anywhere.
We found that the best results for the ink was to draw on a hard surface, like glass or stone. The worst surface was paper or cardboard.
I hope this helps you make your decision. It still may be good for someone who wants a gel pen, but be aware it's not really a puffy pen.
