This is the 2nd set of these I have gotten. The first were returned because the caps on 2 of the markers were off inside the packaging and therefore were dried out. I contacted Amazon about it and I sent the first set back and they replaced them. However, when I received the 2nd set of markers, they came in the EXACT same way. The caps on the 2 black markers were off AGAIN and of course were dried out. I suppose I could send them back AGAIN but it gets to the point that you feel like you are being inconvenienced when you receive sub-par merchandise. The markers are nice but it is simply not worth packaging them up AGAIN to send them back AGAIN. Would the 3rd set come the same way? Not sure but I'm not going to find out. Shame on Speedball or whoever does their packaging.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT: The pen set was a loss to me and I discarded them because it was not worth the cost to return.REASON: The points are of relative poor quality so that the pens most often create dual parallel lines or extraneous ghost lines as opposed to one wholesome defined line. You can avoid this problem by pressing harder while writing, but that defeats the process and style of calligraphic writing and the effect becomes more like that of a big old cheap magic marker. I believe the reason is that the points are not cut precisely and evenly. Perhaps these pens are useful for children trying calligraphy or for coarse projects, such as making a sign for a lemonade stand sign, fancy labeling storage boxes for your garage, or any project where you are trying to write "fancy" but all you have is a big old magic marker. Beyond that, not ideal for intended use.
BACKGROUND: In the past month, I purchased several calligraphic pens and pen sets from Amazon, ranging in price, including this one. I have no expertise in calligraphy, yet I enjoyed and worked quite successfully with several brands, such as STAEDTLER, and a few others. All pens I ordered were "magic marker style" such as these (NOT the traditional calligraphy pen sets with metal nibs that require ink-dipping). I wanted a variety of colors and point sizes for sending notes, labeling, and other creative projects. My thought on potential positive ratings: Had I not tested other products against this set, I am not certain I would have appreciated the limits of these inferior pens, nor the delightful capacity of quality pens from other manufacturers/brands. In such a case, it is probable I would have accepted the pens as standard, made some use, and eventually reduced or abandoned calligraphic projects, due to uninspired and marginal results.

I had some of these markers years ago and really enjoyed using them and so sought to buy another set. Unfortunately these didn't have much ink when they arrived and very soon were dried up. What a disappointment.Honest reviews on Speedball Elegant Writer 6 Medium Calligraphy Markers Set, Assorted
Received the product and one pen was dried to a point of no return. However, I got my refund and am happy with my new set :)
These are a great little addition for a calligrapher or for someone who just wants a fancy little set of pens.
Pro Tip: These make writing the extravagant artistry oftentimes associated with formal script a breeze! (Due to their soft edges)
