When you scrapbook, you try to always get things perfect and harmonious. That's why scrapbookers are always so behind it isn't just a "get it down onto the paper" kind of deal. And that is why this K & Company line is so awesome. It breaks you out of the rut so that you can get your thoughts, paraphernalia, doodles, summaries, scaps, and more onto the page.

I got the Simple Orange Smash Folio in early November at a scrap store. I looked through all of them and this was my favorite they all really do keep a consistent theme. This one has lots of blank and grid pages, some colored pages and some red striped pages, some cool prints and some with text. I'll do a quick video. I love the fine tip pen I actually like my writing with it and it's nice to have the pen and glue stick all in one unit. I did run out of glue halfway through the book, though I used it extensively.

As of new year's day I'm halfway through the book. I've put in:

my thoughts and observations

what I did that day / weekend / week

movie stubs

museum stubs

photos (from my camera and my phone)

calendars (available separately)

receipts

holiday cards received

Smash pad cards (such as "Funniest things you've said:"

I've never been one to keep a diary and I am behind on my scrapbooking the baby is 10 months old and I haven't done her baby book. However, thanks to my Smash book I have kept a log of our family for all of November and December and soon January and February too. I remember when my aunt found my grandmother's diaries and sent me some of the things she had written about my mother (who had also passed away). It meant so much to me to have insight into what she was doing when she was young, and what my grandmother was thinking during those tough years for a mother. Having a book like this where the philosophy is to just get it down (it's beautiful even if it's messy), it means that you pour so much of yourself into the book. I hope one day either my son or daughter will treasure it.

Considering the piles of pictures, playbills, and other random trip accouterments currently piled in my art closet, it's safe to say that compiling a scrapbook is not an easy or fast task. Thankfully, smashbooks take out all the guesswork of preserving memories. If I know I'm going on a trip, I just pack it and a few supplies in a canvas bag, and I'm ready to go! Concerts, shows, or awesome restaurants can be easily remembered, as I can now archive them at the end of a fun-filled day.

I bought this sight unseen and was so thrilled with it. Its perfect for all the stuff that doesn't find a home in scrapbooks but you want to save. Love the pink and the paper inside.

Honest reviews on K&CompanySmash Folios

I wish I would have looked inside this one before I purchased it "See Inside" is not available for this on Amazon yet... It is marketed as "Retro" so I thought the designs on the pages inside would be cool, retro, 50's, or funky, but they're just weird not my taste at all. I won't buy another Smash book without being able to see what the printed pages inside look like. In the meantime I'll just be plastering over the pages in this one so I don't have to go along with their 'themes'.

I just receive this Smash Folio for Christmas and it's stunning!

What I don't like about the Amazon product page is that the International Smash Folio isn't shown in detail, which is a real shame. But not to worry because it's a terrific purchase regardless!

I have barely just started using the pen that comes with the journal. The marker itself is a thin marker perfect for writing and I think it's good quality. I have read that people have issues with the glue stick not working properly because it doesn't glue well. However, I have done a test and so far everything is sticking, you just have to give it time to dry. The only problem I have with the glue stick is trying to twist it back in. I needed to twist it out a bit to glue something in, but when it came time to twist it back in, the glue remained stationary. I didn't think much of it and as I twisted it back in, I just pushed the glue stick in. Other than that, I didn't see any problem with the pen.

The journal roughly measures 10.5" by 8". The journal comes in a plastic cover which has sticker labels on it. However, these are easily removable (I successfully removed them) so you can keep the cover as protection for your journal. The description fails to mention that the cover is embossed with the image of a compass to fit the theme of travel. I also liked the spine, which is yellow book fabric instead of the typical weak paper spine. The spine is also stamped with SMASH*, but I don't really mind it. The journal is spiral bound instead of a traditional journal bound with thread or paste.

The sheets within are absolutely gorgeous and durable! It's all quality scrapbooking paper within. There are various patterns, little survey like things with "Top 10" lists, images of world famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, and different phrases in Italian, Spanish, and French. At the very back, there is also a pocket folder where you can put little tidbits you need to add to your smash folio later. It's a fabulous do-as-you-go scrapbook! I would highly recommend it.
