My Grandmother made a blanket out of these blocks for my daughter when she was born. Instead of using all red thread she used spring colors and it was Beautiful. My little girl loved it to the point that after 2 1/2 years the threads began rubbing away. (Not the threads of the fabric, but the color threads that made the images.) So if you are making a gift for a child, make sure to use at least 3 threads of floss in your needle to preserve all your hard work.
