This loom, unlike the round looms, makes a thick double sided panel. While I LOVE the round looms they produce items with a wrong and a right side, this loom produces a thick straight panel with two right sides and its just lovely!

I'm not sure if I would buy this before trying the round looms. I think you need some of the skills from the round looms...but I am as glad I have this loom as the the other ones!

I own the purple Knifty Knitter(KK) double rake loom and have made 9 scarves with it using the figure 8, rib, and stockinette patterns. The loom's gauge is .75 inches and works great with bulky yarns. Since using this loom, I've become addicted to making scarves.

I'm rating the purple KK loom four stars for two reasons. The first reason is that the instructs that come with the loom are poor; however, many websites including Provo Craft (the maker of the loom) are loaded with loom knitting patterns and instructions.

Secondly, the purple KK double rake loom cannot be used in a circular pattern as no pegs were placed on the loom's ends. To counter that situation, Provo Craft sells KK Loom clips but no retailer in my area sells them and the purchase of them online costs more than the loom itself.

Outside my complaints, the purple KK double rake loom is great and I've made some very beautiful scarves for my family as gifts.

ETA: Loom clips will not fit this loom.

This is very easy to use, I made doublknit the first time I used this loom. You can also use just one side of the loom to make single knit items. Two single knit panels from this loom will make a nice poncho or shawl.

I recommend this loom to anyone who likes knitting with bulky/Chunky yarn. This loom makes great scarves and they are thick. The pegs are sturdy and strong enough to withhold any tight knitting. I am now taking orders because my scarves short and long are so nice, people at work are asking me to make scarves for them. I was going to order three more but I just found out that Joannes sell this loom for 10.99. So, to Joanne I go to get (3) more. This was a great purchase.
