First of all, it needs to be well advertised that the punches don't work without the base. The punch I want ed was not part of the kit and it was only once I received it that I realized that. Then I had to buy a kit with a punch I didn't want in order to get the base because the base is not sold by itself. When I finally got the kit, the guides for the punch I wanted wouldn't fit in the guide slots. The were too big, which made it so the paper couldn't slide through the punch. Luckily, with a razor blade and alot of patience, we were able to cut the guides down so they fit in the guide slots. Now I have a working punch. As I said, I love the idea, improved advertising and manufacturing are needed.

Some of the pieces that snap in to make the guide for the punch are printed crooked. So its impossible to line up your paper properly. I have not written to AC to see about getting a replacement piece, but I was definitely disappointed in the poor quality. It basically ruins that whole punch. Aside from that I am pretty happy with this purchase. WIth the cost of border punches, you can't beat the price.

It's not like you will find any surprises in the designs on these punches, but they do offer some subtle changes to designs in the tried and true scallop arena as well as some other fun border designs. The most appealing aspect of this punch set is the interchangeable parts. It cuts down on the number of large punches you would have to store, because you only need one punch body and then the dies are relatively small. As far as use goes. The punch seems pretty durable, but there could be slightly better alignment in cutting the continuing pattern. Because the dies change, you have to match up to the edge rather than the pattern like on other border punches. This has caused a little bit of overlap, but nothing terrible.

This handy hole punch makes it possible to design your own Spiral bound notebooks! Binding machines can cost from $75 to over $300, but this punch used with the American Crafts Knock Outs Border Punch System Starter Kitis just as effective for much less money. It does take a little more time, patience, and manpower however.

The downsides to this item are that you can only punch up to 4 sheets at a time without the punch jamming. Also, the punch is aligned for the holes to be far enough into the page that you need at least a 15 mm coil to bind any project anything smaller and the pages won't turn properly.

Much like any regular hand-held hole-punch, this can only go through certain surfaces and materials, so it is not meant for large projects or professional projects.

I've turned some old postcards and baseball cards into mini-notebook covers, using old scrap paper that I've cut to size as filler. It's a great way to recycle scrap paper and a fun item to make your own scrapbooks, notebooks, journals or other art projects you can use this to bind them yourself!

For anyone who does like this and does not know where to look for binding coil, I recommend and I also recommend that you order *at least* 14 mm bindings (or wider, depending on how thick you plan on making your books)
