The starter kit is great value to start exploring this new media! The colors are basic so that you can make secondary &/ or create your own palette.

This is a wonderful way to try your hand at encaustic painting without a huge investment. If I have one recomendation, however, I would recommend it come with additional pans for the wax. Two just aren't enough.

Has the basic waxes and two tins. Although there are more tools necessary to work with wax, the price of the pigmented medium is discounted in the kit.
