I am still new to painting, but Windsor Newton paint is an above average quality paint. The colors are opaque, bright and creamy. They mix and blend well. The color selection is good for the beginner. The colors are traditional and will help the beginner build a good understanding of mixing. The colors are not appropriate for portraits, but I painted a mixture of abstract, landscape and still lifes with the paint. I bought other brushes, and I don't recall the included brushes. I was not taught to use liquin, and I had enough ideas that I was not into experimenting with it at the time.
The tubes are large enough that you feel free to use the paint. I paint rather thick--sort of a mild impasto style. I now paint with 200 ml tubes. However, I still have some remnants of these tubes left. I must not use that much Burnt Sienna or Raw Umber. The set's titanium white was larger (I guess about 40 ml) than the other tubes which is very useful.
I suggest a canvas pad, such as Fredrix 3500 Canvas Pads, 9 by 12-Inch and a few brushes if you are buying this as a gift. You can pick up some paint thinner at the hardware store or buy some odorless thinner at a local art store.

Great oil paints for a beginner. Takes forever to dry as all oil paints. Would recommend to every new painter
