The product worked very well, but it isn't something that will be very quick. Start to finish for us took about 1 1/2 hours which includes the exciting body rub ;) with the lubricant, to laying out a proper space with cushions and the drop plastic so she will be comfortable.
My wife and I received this from her sister-in-law for Christmas, which she had mentioned she had wished she had done something like this, and we are pretty grateful she did as it was a thoughtful gift.
I will agree that the packaging doesn't really have wonderful instructions but in lieu of that I will add some for someone looking to buy and do this.
Instructions:
1) Make sure you have a fairly open area and space enough 5x6 to insure that the plaster isn't getting on anything else. Give it will be about an hour of her sitting still it helps to put some pillows and cushions under the drop cloth and possibly give her a little angle back so it isn't too uncomfortable.
2) Cut the plaster strips into 60% 12 inch strips 30% 6-8 inch strips 10% 4 inch strips. (It is quite possible you will have enough to leave about a half roll to full roll for later to smooth out and clean up the cast)
3) Get a 8-15 quart bowl of water to dip the strips the bigger it is makes it easier and I would say use room temp water so it isn't too shocking, so to say, for her.
4) After she is properly disrobed, rub on the lubricant over the affected areas. The lubricant seems to be a wax/petroleum jelly mix. You can do this with gloves on or off, which although it can be sensual, due to the mess and task at hand the gloves help. You will need to wash off the residue before starting with the plaster strips. Make sure that you cover her so you the skin is well coated and shiny as this will help in the removal.
5) Dip strips in the water letting as much drip off in a couple shakes, and apply on to her body starting at either the top or bottom. It helps with the strength of the strips to also go vertically as well as horizontally across the body. You definitely want to get at least 5-6 layers thick for strength afterwards.
One tricky area is the breasts and nipple which are sensitive and I would recommend some of the smaller strips there. Take the strips and lift up the breast so that it gets completely under it, after a few layers there and as the cast slowly dries you can lift them a little (almost like a bra) to get a better looking caste, which I am sure she will be grateful for. :)
One thing to do while applying the strips to the body is to rub over them softly so that the plaster smooths out and you no longer see the little holes. If areas dry a bit and you see the holes just dip your fingers enough to moisten the area and rub it a little to soften the plaster enough to cover.
6) After you have covered her properly, which the plaster does start to harden quickly give her about 10-15 minutes after you are done so the plaster is set enough and wont damage in the removal.
7) Slowly start pulling at the bottom of the cast and this is a moment to be patient, this is much like removing a cake from a silicone baking form, so too fast and you might get cracks. You will feel though as the caste slowly pulls away from the skin which she should be sure to guide you.
8) I set up some plastic bags to give the cast some support for after it was removed. Set it aside which after 24 hours it should be hard. At this point is you want to use some of the extra strips you have set aside you can smooth out or add strength to areas that might not have been completely strong.
That should do it as it worked pretty well for us. I do think this is a fun thing to do together and I recommend it for any parents to be.

The kit was really easy to use. You're basically dipping pre-plastered strips in warm water and sticking it to your body. Like the previous comment, I would also recommend putting pillows underneath the plastic sheet because my back started killing me half-way through the process. I think it would have been a more enjoyable experience that way. Since the plaster dries pretty easily I wouldn't recommend sitting up while doing this because the entire cast will fall off, so precut your strips and get comfortable before starting. The sheet is pretty big, but if you happen to get the plaster on something it comes off fairly easily.
