I bought 4 da Vinci MAESTRO Series 35 brushes in size 0, 2, 4, and 6 as a present for my wife. The brushes themselves all get a 5 but the packaging gets a 1. They all arrived promptly but but were floating around loose in a box about 12 x 8 x 2 inches with no packing material. Three of the brushes at least had tubing over the bristles and were not damaged. The size 6 had no tubing and the bristles were bent. I asked my wife if she wanted me to send the brush back for a replacement. She felt that, over time the bristles would straighten back out. There is no excuse for packaging expensive brushes the way they were.

Keeps the point, holds lots of paint and water, lasts me almost a year. I have been using this particular brush for several years now and am delighted to find a source that is less expensive and low shipping costs.

This brush is a must for the watercolor artist who prefers a soft, long tapered point. I purchased this brand in other sizes also for a class with Charles Reid (he recommends these for his type of style). I have painted for years and have my own preferences for brushes, but these are very fine brushes for those who prefer sable, soft, long point etc. Watch your strokes (move from fat end to point) and don't work the tip too much and it will last for a long time.

The da Vinci Maestro Series 35 Kolinsky Red Sable is the best brush that I have used. It is well worth the price.
