As I am already frustrated with Cricut products due to the obscene cost and incredible instability of the Craft Room software, I was hopeful when I saw that the mats had changed and were marked "improved mat performance." These have historically lost adhesive too quickly. I'll give them this, the grip is better.
HOWEVER... They now bond to any paper with more gusto than I've ever seen a welding torch fuse items together. It is nearly impossible to get any projects off in one piece, even using their "Cricut approved tools."
In what universe is it an "improvement" to destroy so far every single project I've attempted with them?! Not only have I wasted hours of time trying to salvage my work, but also money on even my nicest, heaviest of cardstock which was shredded as a casualty of this money pit known as Provo Crafts (not to mention the cost of the destruct-o-mats).
I strongly caution anyone from purchasing these! You've frankly better off using scotch tape around the edges to secure your material the otherwise useless, no-longer adhesive mats!

I ordered the variety pack of mats from Cricut it came with one each of strong & light and two regular. I use a normal quality cardstock such as Bazzil or Tim Holtz Coordinations and the paper stuck to both of the regular mats. One mat the paper came off but was too curly to use and the other, the paper didn't come off completely and I had to go back and scrape it off, and the paper was ruined. I tried both of these cardstocks on the light mat and it was perfect still had PLENTY of stickiness but they came off much more cleanly and with not too much curl. I know this will calm down after use for a while but I don't really want to lose a lot of cardstock waiting for the mats to get less sticky.I recommend using the light adhesive mats unless you are cutting some type of paperboard/cardboard etc.
