I just used this to make a strapless top with gathering/smocking around the top and waist. The eleven yard spool was just enough to do 5 rows at the top and 5 rows at the bottom, all were a 40" diameter.
So you use this thread in the BOBBIN!!! And regular thread in the top of your machine. Yes, you have to wind the bobbin by hand, so there is no tension on it. But it didn't take nearly as long as I thought since the thread is so thick. One full bobbin did 5 rows.
I have a very inexpensive sewing machine, so I wasn't sure it would work...but it worked like a charm. And the results are FABulous!!! Just sew straight lines 1/4" apart, and the bobbin thread does all the work for you!
