I just received these paints in the mail and was surprised to find that they are oil paints, not acrylic or watercolor, and as such, they require turpentine to clean up the marbling tray, the sink, your hands, etc. Hence my three star rating---not many watercolor painters have turpentine on hand, so be warned. Be sure to have lots of newspaper laid out so you can let the marbled paper dry. This paint is very strong and colorful and you don't need to treat your paper beforehand. The oil paint sticks easily to the paper (I used printmaking paper and masa paper). Because it's oil paint, you can put it on the surface of plain tap water (in a plastic marbling tray) and swirl it around (or blow on it using a straw). Be sure to shake each paint container right before you put the drop of paint on the surface---you want the paint to float and spread, not sink.

The only reason this didn't get 5 stars is because some of the tubes were nearly impossible to punch open with the sharp tip on the cap. I lost half of one tube because I had to hold it so tight to pop it open and when it popped, old faithful would have looked on in awe.

Really easy and pretty amazing results. Directions are not in english, but pictures let you follow along. There is a funny oil smell, but it's not too bad and seems to fade from the finished papers over time.
