I think I got a lot for the price I paid. Many pencils, and a few different types, pad, all in a no wasted space large "wallet." I added a pencil type eraser that can fit in one of the slots and a tiny pencil sharpener in the mesh area with the pad. The mesh area has an elastic band across it, so it stretches. My only complaint would be, that even with the sharpener out of the mesh area that holds the pad, the pad is hard to put back in without some fussing, and more than just a little fussing. In fact, I gave up and just closed it over with the pad on the outside of the mesh area. Closed, it is tight enough, so the pad won't fall out. This is why I gave it 4 stars.

I got this for a special friend who is an art student in university. He absolutely loved it! He even used these sketch pencils for his class projects. I'd love to buy another one for when he completely uses up the first one :)

I got this case for my husband, and it's a great product for a great price. The only real issue is that there is nothing to keep the pencils in if you turn it upside down (like if you toss it in a bag and moves around). My husband added a piece of cloth to fold over the pencils and now it's perfect.
**edited to add** I needed to correct this review, because it turns out there IS a flap to help hold the pencils in place. So, for the price, I think this is an excellent little case.

we gave it to our artsy twelve year old daughter, she has packed it around for several days and says she digs it. the paper seems thick, textured, and of good quality. the pencils are a basic collection for a beginner grayscale sketcher. the case is chintsy. overall good for the price.

The description states that the velcro closure keeps everything snug. I've discovered that is only under the best of circumstances. If you are a careful adult who is completely mindful, and only taking it from a backpack to a drawing desk and back, it might be okay. But if it is for a child or those of us whose minds are often elsewhere, it can be not the greatest. The velcro closure only keeps the folio closed, but it is open at the top, and all the pencils can fall out. I got this for my grandson who had requested a sketch book for Christmas. His mother experienced it the first time as she was preparing to wrap the gift. Then when the boy picked it up haphazardly, all the pencils fell out, and the woodless pencil broke. Had I known this, I would never have purchased it. Granted, this was a last minute purchase -it actually came up as a recommendation after I had already purchased him other sketchbooks and pencils. I thought it was a great idea to "keep it all together" but apparently not.
