These are great little needles. A bit short to hold on to, but after you get used to them, they feel good and balanced. I have tried all brands and these are the ones that I like best. The stiff cable is annoying so I soaked my cables in very hot water (use a coffee mug) to soften them up and "break them in". They did relax a bit. I was nervous to spend on cheap needles, but after pulling my hair out trying to learn to knit lace with expensive Addi Lace, and not liking the way the coating drags even more than wood sometimes, I switched to these boyes. Wood is good for learning stitches and making your little (slow) complicated pattern swatches, but when you are confident, you want speed and stitches without fuzz that the wood can create from rubbing the yarn. The points on these babies grab the yarn and do the job. It's good to have a full 16 inch set to fall back on. I will continue to spend of fancy needles to try them all out, but these are in my knitting bag all the time. Would love it if the company made the cable flexible. I just recently saw on Amazon new square needles called "Boye Artisan" that appear to have just that. Can't wait to try them. I also recommend Susan bates VELOCITY circulars with the black cords, but be forewarned that they are as slippery as butter and not as sharp pointed as the Boyes. The Velocity cable is very flexible and the entire needle point to point slightly shorter (about 1/2 inch) circular wise than the Boyes. I also love Susan Bates Colored Silvalume straights. Both 10 and 14 inch. My work almost always winds up getting finished on these needles. Not expensive and very good for making very pretty even stitches with an excellent taper on the point. Bates teflon version is too slippery for me and the points are nice but almost too sharp. Size 4 did a fabulous job of knit three togethers but split my practice sport weight yarn. By the way. I used nail polish remover on a cotton ball, then a good soapy wash with my green scrubber sponge to remove the tarnished (hmmm at that price?) coating on the Addi Lace 24 inch size 4's. Whaaat you say? Hey I paid for them and I can do what I want with them. They are less grabby now, but I had to put a bandaid on my finger from the sharp point stabbing the same spot for a couple of hours. I suppose if I could afford $25 $30. for genuine lace yarn, the drag on these needles would be a good thing. In conclusion I LOVE the Boye circs because they don't grab the yarn, but are not too slippery either. They work great on any type of yarn without a fuss and they have the best point for practicing lace especially without having to rent out a room to pay for Addi Lace.Best Deals for Boye 16-Inch Aluminum Circular Knitting Needles
The feel and balance of these needles are great. I have the same needles in susan bates, and the Boye are way better. Feel better in the the hand smother knitting. They seems to me at least to be better made as well.Honest reviews on Boye 16-Inch Aluminum Circular Knitting Needles
Dont waste time on these needles. They are horrible the tacky plastic cord tangles up and they are useless.Spend the extra few $$ on a decent set of bamboo needles with a wire cord.
