The wooden box and contents seem fair. Now that it is in hand, I do not believe it is worth the $107 paid. The exterior box is nice with the faux distress and metal leaf emblem on the lip. Hinges are very loose though, I would prefer the lid to have a bit of resistance when opening, but that's neither here nor there. My biggest complaint is that the internal dividers are card stock and are only in place due to the pressure of all the content items wedged in. When I opened the box for the first time, most all of the dividers, pen nibs, and ink bottles popped out. It was a pain to sort through it all, refolding the cardboard divides, and trying to wedge each single wall back into place using the product image here in Amazon to guess where each piece goes. I will end up building a proper wooden dividing grid to avoid this in the future, and to make things a bit more formal and authentic.

So everyone knows generally what's included in the box, I'll try to list it out---something the product description neglected.

Glass/plastic pen 3 with odd spiral design. Easy to look at, but awkward to hold.

3 nib designs, with 2 nibs per design (6 nibs total). I don't have the box with me as I write this, so it is possible that each pen had a nib already attached making a total of 9 nibs? I just honestly can't remember. Either way, you get at least 2 of each which should be fine. Just be aware you may end up bending them under the pressure needed to put them in and out of the pen heads.

Reference top right corner of product image: You have a wooden handle with a metal scoop/spoon for melting wax. My metal head was barely attached to the hand in the the threading was not cut deep enough into the handle for a proper fit. The tension of the threading keeps it together, but I must be very careful as a decent bump may knock the spoon head loose. I would be annoyed if I spilled hot wax due to this, so be careful.

Just under that is a card stock lid to open revealing reddish wax flakes to be melted for your letter seals.

Reference lower right of product image: 3 wax seal stampers. 1. fish icon; 2. heart icon; and 3. a generic leaf-life shape. If I can figure out how to post pics, I'll add later. on the far left of that row is a metal burner. You unscrew the top cap revealing a rope-type wick as you would find in oil lamps. You can unscrew the base to add oil for burning. So, light it, scoop the wax flakes into the metal spoon top right, hold over to melt, pour over closed envelope, stamp, and seal.

There is also a wax stick in the middle. It looks nice as it is, so I'll probably stick to red waxes and keep broken under the lid as described earlier.

For decoration it's fine. For function, you may end up tweaking things a bit. I would be happy to pay $50 for this maybe, but feel disappointed at the current price knowing pieces are loosely put together and there is no sturdy dividing structure to compliment the design. Some pen nibs were also bent out of shape. Not a problem as they work (and replaceable at a local Michael's or Hobby Lobby), just frustrating.

I hope this review helps? It's overall not bad, just over-priced for the quality. 3 stars because it works. Lower price or slightly better quality of material would easily give it 4 or 5 IMHO. Shipping and packing material was very good. Box was secure for shipment.

While it may have taken a while to get this due to manufacturer delays, it was well worth wait. This is a beautiful set with a nice selection of nibs and an awesome glass pen. The ink selection is very nice also. And I love the sealing wax with the burner and pot. VERY cool! I am quite pleased.

This product comes in a fine wooden box with a metal feather inset on the top. The construction feels nice and the set is quite robust. The sealing wax is a dark orange/red color and is very handsome. There are five inks to write with. The overall quality is quite good, though the major selling point is the design of the box. For the price of 100 dollars it may not be for everyone, but this is a nice gift of high quality.

I have to tell you, this is an absolutely beautiful picture. I love the design and the kit has everything you need(except a frame if you wanted to frame it).

I love it, but I was so attracted by the florals that I didn't realize this is on 28", very teeny tiny squares. I like working on the 18 squares per inch, and the 22" is too small for me, so you can tell 28" would be waaay too small for me to work with. I am going to try and resize the pattern, because I like it so much.

If you are very young and have amazing eyesight, you will truly want to try this one. Very beautiful, nice kit and arrived before I expected it. Packaged nicely and the kit is even in a reclosable packet.

I loved the design the first I saw it. When I received it, I realized the threads do not have any identification (physically). How would i know which thread to use? The pattern says the color and the corresponding color number. However, the thread physically do not have the color number. Am i just to guess it?

I have seen a lot of reviews on these pens. Almost everyone agrees that they are wonderful pens and that they last for years. A lot of people continue to complain about cleaning the pens, and about the fragility of the tip of the pen (you can bend the wire inside the tip if you aren't careful while cleaning it, rendering the pen useless).

I've only been using Radiograph pens for three years now, but I use them constantly. I draw with them and, for the past two years, I have used them to take hundreds of pages of notes in class. I write with them instead of using regular pens. Using these pens requires a somewhat gentle hand. If you don't use them properly, you are likely to break them and you will wear them down very quickly.

As far as claims in other reviews that the pens stop working or that the ink clogs constantly I have not ever had a problem with this.

If you leave ink in the pens and you do not use them for a number of months, you will have to clean the pens. (This is true of any pen that takes a thicker, more potent ink.) This involves careful disassembly. Cleaning these pens is very similar to trying to clean older calligraphy pens you're bound to have ink all over your hands for a day or two, but, if you are patient, you can clean them completely and they are as good as new.

The lines are uniform in color and constant. The pens work well in controlling the flow of ink, and they do not bleed when you are writing with them. If you shake them a lot, ink will splatter everywhere, like a calligraphy pen with an open nib, but everyday wear and tear won't cause the pen to explode (in a purse or backpack), if you want to carry it around. If the ink flow stops for a moment, you simply need to gently shake the pen to allow more ink to flow to the tip, and it will continue to write (taking the pens apart will allow you to understand exactly how the ink is distributed in the pens but be careful when taking out the tip!)

The pens are reliable and they perform beautifully.

These are the best (really only) pens if you want a precise line. They are great for contour drawings, cross hatching, and I like to write little notes with them. The precision of the line lends an austere gravity to little notes.

You have to draw relatively slowly or they skip, so if you draw with a gesture don't bother. They work a little like a fountain pen, and ink wells up into the tube that you draw from, so if you touch the area just above the drawing tube you are likely to get ink on you hands. I like the closeness with the materials, but you might not. These are for a serious draftsperson and not a hobbiest.

I've been using Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph pens for over two decades. They are one of the most reliable brands on the market if you clean them regularly and follow the simple instructions included for maintenance, they will last for years. I replace mine about once every six years. These pens produce a clean, uniform line which is excellent for crosshatching, stipple drawing and pointillism, and great for general sketching. The ink is water soluble, which allows for some nice wash effects when necessary.

I've been using Rapidograph-type technical pens to write and draw in my ever-present notebooks for over 40 years. I imagine it helps that I'm left-handed, I naturally write with my pen in a vertical position, and I make notes with mind maps and drawings. This Rapidograph pen is the highest-quality technical pen that I've yet seen and I could never find a more-enjoyable pen to write with over all these years to write and draw with than a technical pen. I've tried...as the manual filling of the ink cartridges is messy, even after doing it hundreds of times. I've personally found that the pre-filled replacement ink cartridges too expensive compared to filling the pens manually.

I have 2 issues with this pen and the pen set. The first is that the ink cartridge reservoir is less than half the size of all the other technical pens that I've previously used. Maybe Rapidograph believes that these technical pens are now only used for short work periods and then are put away. That would help waste less ink when the ink dries up and the pen needs to be cleaned to unblock it. It's not my case though, as I use it all the time...even though they dry up if I don't use them for a week and I have to clean them again. The second issue is that I would have liked to buy a double-pen set with 0 (0.35mm) and 1 (0.5mm) pen sizes at an attractive price rather than this 7-pen set.

I actually saw this in a different catalog before ordering it here. While I love the graphics as I most often do with Cavallini products the actual items are a bit of a let-down in terms of quality and execution.

First, the actual paper bags are extremely thin. One must take great care not to rip them, I should think, and I found it personally rather stupid that someone had come up with the idea to clip the paper bags together with a standard paper clip (completely unnecessary, in my opinion, and these leave noticeable indentations in at least the first 3 bags).

My second frustration is with the gift tags which, while very nice and made of good quality cardstock, have poorly applied glitter which basically snows all over you almost as soon as you open the package, and comes off all over your hands anytime you handle the tags, begging the question whether any glitter will be left if/when they are to be used for a gift-giving occasion.

The presentation overall is quite nice, and because I do enjoy the images and have various projects in mind for this, I will be keeping them but I would caution any potential buyers that this is not necessarily a value-for-money product, as you may be better off making your own paperbags from good quality scrapbooking paper or cardstock.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I grew up using a Singer sewing machine in a cabinet it was okay but had some unresolvable tension issues. A decade ago we went to a local trusted sewing machine store where they recommended a White. WOW were we led astray. We all hated that White the bobbin was a pain to load and it frequently broke the threads in the middle of projects causing extensive frustration and anxiety. The White was HORRIBLE to deal with loading the bobbin; the bobbin thread and sewing thread often broke, it was simply a nightmare and we stopped using it altogether. The White is so horrible no one wants that sewing machine; I've tried giving the White away free a few times, NO ONE has picked it up, despite being FREE to a good home hence it's still sitting in my garage. Afterall we paid well over $200 for the pile of useless plastic so I hate to landfill the machine. (Thankfully a local friend read my review here and gave the White to a local single mom in need.) A year ago we bought the Brother CS6000i Advance Sew Affordable 60-Stitch Computerized Free-Arm Sewing Machine with Hard Case & More! to replace the detested White Sewing machine.

So in steps our new Brother CS6000i. A friend recently came over to help make new window treatments for our living room. Sight unseen, he unboxed the Brother CS6000i and within the evening our new window treatments were completely finished without any issues whatsoever. Pretty good for the first project on a previously unknown machine.

Since then we've used the Brother CS6000i for a number of other smaller projects, it's just such a breeze to use and so refreshing after the previous horrible experience. I've come to trust Brother for good quality products, it's amazing their quality extends into sewing machines. Brother has now become the name of quality for me.

Then the Brother CE7070 arrived for review. Side by side with the Brother CS6000i, they are both fantastic machines. Both Brother machines feature the very easy to load top bobbin, and an automatic needle threader. Yes, read that again, both machines feature the AUTOMATIC NEEDLE THREADER!! VERY NICE!!

The primary differences I have noted so far include:

* The CS6000i comes with a hard protective cover, the 7070 does not come with a case nor a cover. For either machine I recommend getting the Brother 5300 Universal Sewing Machine Carrying Case.

* The CS6000i has 60 built in stitches, the CE7070 has 70 built in stitches; both come with a wide table which is a very very handy attachment!

The CE7070 features the following stitches: Garment construction including button sewing, 7 button hole stitches (1-step auto-size), mending, zipper insertion, and various stretch stitches; Decorative stitches including twin needle straight and zigzag stitches as well as serpentine leaf and serpentine flower stitches (I love the look!); quilting stitches and heirloom stitches.

Both the Brother CS6000i and the Brother CE7070 are FIVE STAR MACHINES! My recommendation: Go with the Brother 7070 sewing machine for the 10 extra built-in stitches then spend the few dollars saved to buy the Brother 5300 Universal Sewing Machine Carrying Case. Brother's customer service is 877-276-8437.

Whatever you do, don't repeat my mistake of entrusting a local sewing machine store to lead you to the machine that's supposedly easy to use and will serve you well, especially when they also offer a lengthy series of very expensive classes to then teach clients how to use the expensive confounded machine they sell.

In my video review of this Brother sewing machine I will show you the basic features and what the stitch quality looks like. I also talk a little about how light weight this sewing machine is, which isn't necessarily a problem, I just hope the machine lasts a while and isn't made off too cheap of parts.

When I say I wouldn't recommend spending too little on a sewing machine, less than one-fifty or so, I'm not necessarily talking about this machine. The non-reduced price of this machine is higher and the features are better than the really cheap machines which I would avoid. Very much like cars, you don't want to spend too little on a machine, in my opinion, if you're hoping it will last you a good long time.

These machines are about perfect for learning and hobbyist level use. Also, it is almost a sin to waste time and money by paying someone to hem a pair of pants. Much faster and cheaper to buy an inexpensive sewing machine and learn to do it.

Unlike other reviewers, if both were the same price then I'd take the CS6000i over the CE7070PRW. I value the CS6000i's included cover (not a carry case) more than the additional 10 stitched of the CE7070PRW. Also, the CS6000i seems to have a few more metal parts in places where metal may be important (spindle, ...).

I've owned and used the CS6000i for about a year now. Great little machine. Now being loaned out to a friend learning to sew.

Unboxing the CE7070PRW was like finding a familiar friend. It's got that nice little needle threading gizmo. Hence I was running a few test swatches through it almost immediately. It simply works. Just like it is supposed to. On the other hand, I almost exclusively us straight, zig-zag, and blind stitches.

It's simply amazing what Brother packs into these little machines. It's also amazing how many little attachments are included. Especially all the different feet for different kinds of stitches.

I know a fair number of people that turn their noses up at these sewing machines. They like to spend a few hundreds of dollars (or more) on other brands. After hemming a bunch of pants and numerous jedi robe designs, I can't tell the difference.

One of the odd things about these machines is that they are very light. That makes them easy to get out, put away, and haul around.

One of the really nice things is the instruction book. It does a decent job showing how to do the various stitches. HOWEVER, youtube is even better. Lots of instruction there.

Anyways... This is more than enough machine for someone at my hobbyist level.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I grew up learning to sew on my grandmother's & mom's Kenmore. In the early years of our marriage, my husband bought me a Brother XL-3022. It's still going strong but does show it's age. Loud & clunky, but very serviceable. Last spring I bought the Brother CS6000i as a new treat to myself, so when the Brother Project Runway CE7070PRW was offered to me I was very interested in seeing the difference. Both machines are very similar, including in price.

Both the CE7070PRW & CS6000i are very lightweight. It's easy to move them from table to box and back again. They're amazingly quiet too. Lots of decorative stitches that are so fun to use, the CE7070PRW has 10 more than the CS6000i. I love the drop in bobbin that they both feature. That is a HUGE improvement over the old XL-3022. The automatic threader is fantastic. The wide table attachment is also a great accessory. I look forward to using it for my future large projects.

Now down the the "nuts and bolts." The price is great on the CE7070PRW, the machine is relatively easy to use. So I think it would be a great machine for a beginner. It's good to start with, and has all the bells & whistles for when your skills improve and you want to try something of higher level. It's sturdy so it should stand up to years of use. The same thing for the CS6000i. The only thing I wish it had was a case like my CS6000i but those should be relatively inexpensive. The other small item I prefer on my CS6000i is the "needle position" button. It's just a handy thing that I've gotten used to on that machine, so it really doesn't make much of a difference that the CE7070PRW doesn't have it. Sort of more a personal thing.

So I would equally recommend either the Brother CS6000i OR the Project Runway CE7070PRW. Both are fantastic machines in similar price ranges. As to which machine I'd recommend on an individual basis depends on what you want in features.

I haven't used this a lot, but I have sewn 3 small toddler sized outfits for my daughter with it, it works really well and I haven't had any trouble with it, until now. I used the button sewing foot to sew a button, it tells you to lower the feed dogs, which I did, and when I finished and went to raise the feed dogs back to the regular position they were stuck. I removed the silver plate to see what was going on and it seems as if the little bar holding the feed dogs in position has broken making it so they stay in the lowered position. I'm hoping this is just a manufacturing flaw and not a common occurrence with this machine.
