This is a great item. I love to work on Mandalas and this item does do the trick for what I love doing. The variety of colors is great!

The only problems I had with this item is the packaging of the pens is really flimsy. Before you receive this item, I highly recommend that you buy a holder that will stand them upright when they are not in use. The pens will only leak if you lie them on their sides. I learned the hard way. MY BAD. ROFL

Like any product, treat this product with care when you receive it. :) I still need to go out and get something to hold them properly. They are in a plastic bin away from my kids right now. :) Don't be lazy like me. ;)

Many of the pens quit working within the first few minutes of using them. The glitter may be getting clogged up in some but even the metallic ones are refusing to flow. I couldn't get them to write once again no matter how or what I tried. All the old techniques to get the ink to flow with ballpoint pens when I was in school failed. This assortment is proving to be a real "dud". Nearly 25% of these pens do not work after the first use. I always recap my pens they really should not dry out. I can clearly see the volume of ink is in the inner tube. Frustrating to say the least. Do Not Buy! Unless you've got money to blow!

The gel pens were nice for the price and pleased that there were duplicate colors. There were far more colors than I anticipated. I am a scrapbooker and gel pens are such as asset.

THIS was a joke from the beginning. It took eleven days for this to get to me, and when I received it the box from UPS it was packed in was in great shape. After opening the box, the plastic container these pens were in was broken. The bottom was falling out. A number of the pens were without the tops( they had come off), a number of the pens were dried out, and more of them the ink had leaked out of the back of the pen all over others. I would not waste my money. I do not know whether this is the fault of American Crafts ( although I have received faulty material from them before or the company that sold these. I do NOT ever have this experience on Amazon and do not expect to have it again.

About 1 in 5 pens actually worked. I would not recommend this at all. I threw most of the pens away as they did not write at all. Some started to work and then stopped after a word.

I purchased this with some apprehension, as any painter knows there is a large range of quality in any painting supplies, from extremely poor to excellent. I am now happy to say it is a great buy. It is not what you would consider to be premium quality, but certainly not poor quality either. It terms of value for the price, I was pleasantly surprised. More than reasonable cost for everything that is included. Everything I needed is included, instructions are easy to follow are detailed, and final painting is lovely. The project is suitable for any painting skill level. I did use different brushes than the ones provided, but this is a simply because of personal preference, not any problem with the brushes that are included.

I feel the need to vent my spleen at speedball. They make the worst nibs I've ever used. They'll rust on you, even if you take good care of them, and once that happens say goodbye to the quality of your line work. They're not the best I've ever used even when they are new. Don't buy them, it's false economy. I wish I knew the brand I was using back in the day, but I tended to just buy whatever loose nibs were available. My advice is, make sure your nibs are made of steel and that it's decent quality. Also, don't buy speedball. Ever. They don't know what they're doing and your nibs will go to pot almost immediately.

I loved chalkboards. I did a lot of work on a chalkboard. I used a chalkboard at work for years after everybody else's had been replaced with whiteboards. I even saved some chalk when I retired. I was happy to try this idea!

They don't work. You get tiny scratches and the marks are not visible at all.

A proper chalkboard is made of slate. It has a distinct surface that grabs material off the chalk-stick and holds it there.

These things are like cardboard painted with black paint. The chalk-stick hardly makes a mark. Black paint does not a chalkboard make. I used to run into black-paint-boards in other people's offices. I guess they didn't know any better, but they never used their chalkboards. Guess why? Because the chalkboard didn't work. Just like these things, they don't work.

Not good enough!

My chalk is decades old. Could that make a difference? I tried chalk from three different manufacturers and of four different colors. Didn't seem to make any difference.

You're supposed to prepare the surface of a chalkboard, and re-prepare it every year (I did mine as a ritual during Christmas Break). Using the side of the chalk-stick, cover the board uniformly and then erase with vigor. I used a terry-towel cloth, since I couldn't find my old eraser. Didn't help. Actually made it marginally worse, since the weak marklets the chalk makes are even harder to see against the new smoky background instead of plain black.

Nope. Great idea; too bad it wasn't implemented well.

I have seen many room makeovers where the people have used chalkboard paint. I didn't want that for me, this was the best solution. Now I have them all over the house. I leave little notes to myself for different rooms in the house. Now I don't forget.

If you have good or better hand strength and want to carry a lot of tools with you, these are for you.

Smaller tools have less leverage.

You have to use a lot more force to get the same result.

I liked that they were lighter and I could carry them in my purse or small bag that came with them.

They are tiring to use, but work fine.

I used this product for the first time today (6/13/2013). It did the job. But here is what I found out. The tool that comes with the buttons, throw it away. It is useless. Take a needle and put a hole in the fabric were you want the new button. Then insert the sharp stud that secures the button thru the fabric (Make sure you insert from the backside) Now place the new button on top of the securing stud and lightly hit it with a hammer. It takes like 30 seconds. If you try to use the tool that comes with the buttons you will drive yourself nuts. If you use this method, you will not have any problems. I would recommend this product, just not the tool.

Since, it seems, no manufacturer that makes pants I can afford can sew on buttons that stay attached, this is excellent to have around. The instructions do mention that if the fabric on the garment has been badly damaged, a piece of cloth might have to be applied to hold the back "Nail." That has never been the case in my experience. In fact, the only added difficulty on one pair of shorts was removing the failed Buttoneer stubs, which took many attempts to attach and lasted less than a week as fasteners and an eternity as failed reminders of a really useless product. These worked the first time. I've ordered more... an all too rare product that is cheap, well made, and works perfectly.
