If you do a lot of work with paper craft, you will like this tool from Fiskars. It has the quality and ease-of-use that Fiskars is known for and produces beautiful borders. It is easy to use. It is a tad high maintenance in that it does take up a lot of space and the additional punches are pricey--you can end up spending a lot on them. I decided to gift mine to my friend who makes cards every day (not just occasionally like me) and who can afford to buy the additional cartridges. Look at the cost of refill cartridges before you purchase this item to see if it is something doable for you. That said, it's a fine product!

Recommended, if you can afford the price of the additional cartridges.

If you're into "shabby chic," these folders are for you.

They both produce worn-looking textured patterns; one, a "dots" design, and the other a "woven wire" pattern.

I've used these to texture printed designs to give them an older "antiqued" look, and also used them as backdrops for a layered card design, lightly sanded to bring out the texture.

My embossing machine is a Sizzix, so these work just fine, but they should work perfectly OK in any die-cutting/embossing machine that can handle the standard plastic embossing folder.

The die may be thin, but it has no problem cutting through cork, acetate and foil tape. Unlike Spellbinders, I do not have to use wax paper or any other kind of release paper to get the die through the material.

I am never disappointed with Karen Burniston dies. I bought this one originally for the pop 'n cuts insert to decorate it, but I have used it many times in other projects.

It is a short sighted decision on Sizzix's part not to renew Ms Burniston's contract for another year, her innovative pop 'n cuts dies are what made me made buy a Sizzix BigShot in the first place.

I have tried many brands of acrylic paints over the years. Recently, I have been using Golden acrylics for canvas, murals and detail work on wooden furniture. Then, I would have to buy an entirely separate set of Folk Art enamels for painting on glass and ceramics. Paints get expensive fast. So, when I read that Martha Stewart had introduced an acrylic paint that was supposed to adhere to any surface, I was skeptical yet intrigued. Especially, when I did the math and saw a bottle averaged out to less than a buck-fifty.

I bought all three sets of the Best Selling Colors series available on Amazon. I figured, worst case, I could use the paints during arts and crafts time with my kids. Being a firm supporter of the "seeing is believing" mentality, I set out to test the paint's limitations. So far, I have used these paints on canvas, ceramic bisque, wood, plastic and metal with great success. They are smooth and creamy, and the color selection is impressive.

I have only owned them for a week, so I cannot attest to the paint's longevity or UV and weather resistance. I painted a ceramic frog to put in my garden. I will update this review after it has endured the sweltering heat and humidity of a long Mississippi summer.

I was a little skeptical using this as I have previously used 2 part epoxies and this stuff is like mixing 2 clay parts together but it works as advertised. I used it to repair a rather large hole my son put in our pool slide which is made of fiberglass. Mixed it, put it on, smoothed and then sanded and painted. Can't see the damage.....And my son is no longer grounded....Win all the way around.

I used this epoxy to assemble large-scale ceramic sculptures. It was easy to use, had a good kneadable consistency, and adhered to all surfaces well. It also did not slump and reached full strength overnight. Afterward, it accepted all types of paint and spray lacquer. I have been looking for an epoxy to replace Phillyseal-R ever since that was discontinued. So far, this epoxy is closest, and is also reasonably placed. I will continue to use it.

When I ordered this stamp I was just starting to learn leather stamping and was concerned the stamp would be tricky to use because it is a step up from the plain Jane version. If you are only going to order one set of alphabet stamps and want a nice looking one, go for this one first. It was no harder than the "easy to use" stamps designed for beginners but looks so much nicer and is a little bigger so easy on the eyes. This is an excellent choice. I made a lot of personalized leather barrette, bracelets, leather necklace charms, and book marks for gifts and they were well loved. For an easy way to make the stamped image to pop, consider using a colored sharpie to fill in the dots before applying the leather finish to your item. This item was easy for kids to use and great for scout projects.

Our kids have really enjoyed leather working using this set and others. There are lots of little pieces, so its important for Mom or Dad to provide a way to keep them organized. I even enjoy doing this along with my children!

Look it is a poor craftsman that blames his tools. These are nice easy to read letters. Practice on a scrap piece of leather first. You need to gauge how hard you need to swing the hammer. Prepare your surface. I have an oak table, Overlaid with 6 " x 18" piece of sheet steel, 14 gauge. Picked up at the hardware or Lowes, Home Depot etc. Than just a crap of hard wood. Lay the leather crap on this bed and pound away. when you hit just the right depth and impression that you want on your leather, you will know how hard you need to swing to give the desired result. These are not the fanciest, but quality at a low price. I like them, and did every thing I wanted them for.

This is a great little set of letters. They look very clean when tooled into your leather and are perfect for 3/4 inch belts and collars. Not to big or small. The only thing to really watch if you are use to working with the larger letters is that they don't have an indicator to show which side is up. Such a cute kit. Purchased for an 8 year old budding artist. She carries it everywhere. The pencils are more likely to splinter when sharpening than more expensive ones, but that's to be expected. I've had these for about 9 months now. I'm not a professional and only use them occasionally but they are awesome. They are of outstanding quality and I have never had any issues with use or spray quality. All metal no plastic bits.

Cleanup is typical but not cumbersome. Their fine "dark chrome" finish and brass parts makes it pretty straight forward.

I bought this set because I wasn't sure exactly which style of brush I wanted and Iwata's are just too pricey to experiment with, given the limited use they would see, but at the same time I didn't want junk.

I have large beefy hands and these are quite comfortable and easy to handle. The action is good and the spray is fine. all adjustments are precise and smooth.

This set was the perfect choice for me, and as it turns out I use all three! Mostly painting RC racing car bodies. I could not be more satisfied, I plan on using them a very long time.

UPDATE: Now over a year in, they continue to impress me. I push them a little more as I get more experienced with them, they will get down to a VERY, VERY fine hairline spray. I mostly use Tamiya acrylic paints straight out of the bottle, no thinner.. flawless stream of fine even spray every time. Never clogs or spits.

This set is a great value...you get all three varieties of the Renegade brushes in a hard plastic carrying case. The trigger action on these are so smooth. Well built, parts are cheap if needed, made in the USA, and Badger has some of the best customer service in the business. Clover Leather Thimble Set, 3 Review

I am a quilter and have a collection of thimbles. This review presents the comparison of the thimbles along with images of how they fit.

Clover Leather Thimble set is made out of hard leather on top and plastic insert under it (the pink part). It is comfortable to wear, but the string that holds it together broke the first time I tried to use it (I was able to fix it by sewing it together). When I saw it in the store I liked its shape and thought I could use it to protect the tip of my finger (see photo of how I wanted to wear it) but they don't get much use as found something less fragile that works better.

I am attaching comparison and pictures of the thimbles in my collection. The numbers in the images correspond to the numbers below.

1. Leather thimble with a metal plate (marked #1 in the photos) is my favorite, most versatile thimble. Because it is leather it become shaped to your finger and gets more and more comfortable with use. The metal plate on the tip allows to push through and not hurt your finger. It does not have an opening at the top, so it may not work for those who have long nails.

2. All leather thimble (marked #2 in the photos) is extremely comfortable, but because it has no metal parts it provides less protection. I often use it as a second thimble on the hand to protect another finger because it does not get in a way. It has an opening at the top, so it works for those who have long nails.

3. Strip thimbles (marked #3 in the photos, the product in this listing) turned out not to be very useful. The leather itself can be penetrated by the needle, the pink plastic insert does protect the finger. However the string that holds thimble together on the back broke very quickly. I was able to repair them by stitching them together on the back to replace the string that broke. As you see from the photo they don't cover the very tip of the finger, so they did not work well for me.

4. Plastic thimble provides good protection, but hard plastic makes it a bit hard to work with. So I usually put it on only when my needle is stuck and needs an extra push. It has an opening at the top, so it would work for someone with long nails.

5. Thimble #5 is a thimble I made myself out of band-aid wrapped around my finger. I needed to protect my thumb, and my home made thimble worked best. If you have hard time finding a good thimble, give it a try making it yourself out of Nexcare bandages. They seem to hold the shape well, and I could put my home-made thimble on and off, so I could re-use.

6. Thimble #6 was a thumb thimble I bought, but I found that it got in the way because it was a bit too long and made my hands less agile. It has no opening at the top, so it might work for people with long nails.

So if you have to buy one thimble I would go with leather thimble with a metal plate.

Plaid 21121 Apple Barrel 16-Ounce Acrylic Paint, Light Pink Review

This is a great paint for projects. The only issue is that its not really a light pink so much as a pepto pink. I needed it as a base coat for a more expensive paint and it worked fabulously for that. Decent price (if like me you don't have a car/access to Hobby Lobby).

I'm an art student, and I've been needing my own set of gouache for a while now. I never got any because they're so expensive (a small pack of 6 colors is $10, even at a discount store). But this set is an amazing value good-quality student paints at an unbeatable price. They arrived in the original packing (not the same packaging as in the picture, but same brand and product presumably a more recent design), sealed with plastic. All 24 tubes were there, and they're a decent size. The paint is smooth and was clearly stored well. The colors blend quite nicely. I look forward to using these for my work, and I can't wait to buy again when I run out!

Not much to say about this product. It's gouache. Its pigment is a bit weak compared to the more expensive counterpart, but if you're under a tight budget and/or need this for school, then this would be the perfect set for you.

Roughly $12 dollars for 24 tubes of Gouache, you have to consider why the price is so cheap at 50 cents per tube. The truth is, you get what you pay for.

I brought this set originally to due quick environment studies. The colors when coming out of the tubes looks pretty at first however, the truth happens after the gouache dries! The colors are very dull and lack a vibrance to them after it dries. It can be disappointing and discouraging when you feel you have mixed a beautiful color and it changes drastically when it dries. The texture to the gouache is a bit grainy and the colors do not apply evenly (Not good for washes). It's funny that they give you 24 colors but due to the low quality pigmentation, mixing them doesn't give you more colors as you think you would.

Keep in mind though, for the price, it's as good as it gets.

I would not recommend this set. It's a waste of your time and water/gouache paper.

I personally would recommend Winsor Newton's Gouache introductory set. It may seem a bit much but the texture is very smooth and a little bit goes a long way. If you start with the introductory set, there's only 6 tubes, but they mix very well into a great range of colors as they are highly pigmented.

Bottom line: You get what you pay for. Paints in general are about pigments.

I recently started using this product professionally (having switched from marker) and it achieves the desired effect: brilliant, even, opaque, matte color. It is also easy to lay down and to mix colors. The price of high end gouache always put me off at $10/tube. This is not only a bargain, it's an absolute steal at this price if you want a wide variety of colors. Michaels sells a 16 12 ml.tube set for $14.99.

I have used hot glue guns both professionally and personally for more than 25 years (I have made handmade holiday items (wreaths, mini-trees, etc.) for national catalogs and am a professional artist who works with glass and mixed media in addition to oils. In fact, I own 15 hot glue guns. Words don't describe how wonderful this new product is. I have know for a while that it was coming onto the market and couldn't wait to get a kit. I did and I used it and I will never use a hot glue gun without it...no more burned fingers, I can place small detail items into a work and know it will be neat and have very very few drips etc. Most every household has a hot glue gun.....they also need this kit. I LOVE the HGGH! I am in the process of cranking out a bunch of crafts for a show next weekend.
