This is a great little stamp set from Maya Road. I love the clear view so that you can see where you are stamping. The typewriter image is retro-adorable and I am using it for making my own note paper & for a quick business card with a hand-made indie look. The word stamps are an added bonus especially since the font they used has that vintage typewriter look.
This is a must have stamp for any crafter/artist or anyone who just loves a cool, well made stamp.

Cheap All-Fix Epoxy Putty 6 Pound Unit - 2 Quart Set - Underwater Epoxy
I was a little skeptical using this as I have previously used 2 part epoxies and this stuff is like mixing 2 clay parts together but it works as advertised. I used it to repair a rather large hole my son put in our pool slide which is made of fiberglass. Mixed it, put it on, smoothed and then sanded and painted. Can't see the damage.....And my son is no longer grounded....Win all the way around.I used this epoxy to assemble large-scale ceramic sculptures. It was easy to use, had a good kneadable consistency, and adhered to all surfaces well. It also did not slump and reached full strength overnight. Afterward, it accepted all types of paint and spray lacquer. I have been looking for an epoxy to replace Phillyseal-R ever since that was discontinued. So far, this epoxy is closest, and is also reasonably placed. I will continue to use it.

Reviews of X-ACTO #4 Stencil Knife Set (X5204)
This is one of the most "flimsyiest" pieces of X-acto I've every used. The blade continually slipped and would not stay in place even when cutting the finest of material. I guess you get what you pay for. I fessed up the money and purchased the high-end kit with the wooden case. We'll see about that. Would not recommend this product.
I think if the blade were shorter perhaps only 1/2 an inch above the shaft it wouldn't wiggle and bend and I could apply more pressure to get it to cut through. However, the shaft does not allow the blade to go in deeper, so the only way to do that would be to snap/break the blade.
Disappointing don't waste your money, just get a regular x-acto.

I purchased this for cutting both film and cardboard for stencils. The blade is about 3/4 inch above the shaft and is a couple mm front to back and seems thinner than a regular x-acto angled blade. When you press down to cut it bends and is too unstable to apply adequate pressure to cut through (it would only score for me as I was afraid to apply more pressure as it looked as though the blade might snap). In addition, it does not come with a cap! This is the first x-acto I've ever bought that didn't come with a cap. I presume they expect you to remove the blade and put it in the (thin, cheap plastic) case with the additional fresh blades. However, I'd rather not mix my fresh, new blades with old ones like that (but I suppose it doesn't matter since the knife doesn't cut well anyways).I think if the blade were shorter perhaps only 1/2 an inch above the shaft it wouldn't wiggle and bend and I could apply more pressure to get it to cut through. I bought two of these, as my husband uses it for work, and my daughter uses it with her clay craft. They are both very happy with the usability of the knife. I'm glad they come with 5 extra blades, because I can't seem to find the blades by themselves.Honest reviews on X-ACTO #4 Stencil Knife Set (X5204)

The idea is great. The blades are very weak and break easily. I use mine for stencils. It works very well, but i go through lots of blades.Buy Art Advantage Canvas Clips
Transporting wet oil paintings turned out to be a NERVEWRACKING experience for me, I was so worried I would dump the canvas upside-down while I was driving or brush them against something and smear the paint. Googled how to travel with wet canvas, found someone mentioning these off-handedly, and I can honestly say I would recommend them to any artist out there that has to deal with moving their oil paintings before drying. Especially useful if you are taking painting classes and can't leave your canvas in the classroom. I would recommend two things though. One, use a decent quality stretched canvas. If your canvas is not tight enough, or braced properly, it might flop against the opposing canvas and render both paintings ruined. And two, use these with a blank canvas and your wet painting. That way you only have to worry about not smearing one painting instead of two.
Oh and one more thing, if you are transporting bigger canvasses, say 36" x 48" and up, I would recommend using two packs of these clips just to be safe and to make transport easier. I am using these on 18" x 24" canvas and they work perfectly.I used these with still-wet oil paintings. I did have to touch up the places where the clips went on to the painted side of the canvas but was pleased with the overall quality and utility.

Overall this is a good deal if you are used to purchasing powders for 4 bucks per color. These are small containers and many of the colors don't come out as brilliant as I would have liked. The red melts so dark it almost looks black. All that being said there are a few powders like copper and gold which look absolutely brilliant. As long as you expect a bit of a mish mosh it is totally worth the money.
I found these colors to be a great start for those who do limited embossing.
Theses last a long time . Just put any excess powder back in tubes.
Nice to be able to purchase crafting products from Amazon.

Review of PointZero PZ-1200XS Dual-action Six Airbrush Set w/ Carry Case
I purchased this set for use at a haunted house and the guns were ok but by the end of the season none of them worked any more. I know a lot of that is likely due to them getting used pretty roughly for a month straight but I would have hoped for more.

Review of Plaid:Craft - Folk Art Extreme Glitter Paint 2 Ounces
I'm not sure why this paint is represented with a pink colorit is NOT pink. It is a transparent paint with a lot of glitter in it. I had bought it after searching Amazon with the pink 'check box' selected, and was disappointed to find that when it arrived it was not what it had appeared to be. That said, I did use it anyway, and it is a very nice paintit's more of an Elmer's Glue consistency, and there is a lot of glitter in it. If I had been looking for a transparent glitter paint, this would be a 5-star review. The product and company are great, but please be aware that the color is inaccurate before you choose this paint.

I just finished my FIRST QUILT EVER!! It's a baby sized quilt, so nothing amazing. When I was shopping for feet related to clothing making I saw this foot and figured it was inexpensive so added it to my card with the quilt I just finished in mind. I pieced it together and finally got to the 'stitch in the ditch' part. Please keep in mind I am teaching myself how to make this as I go along. I don't even OWN a 'real' quilt, just machine made bedspreads etc. Now that I've used the foot I understand why it's so useful. My first quilt looks AMAZING. The 'ditch' stitching is neatly tucked into the joined seams. You can't even see them on the face of the quilt, but the quilt has that distinctive 'quilted' look. I don't know how else to put it. Now I'm going to try the Distinctive Free Motion foot for the all over quilting. I'll be reviewing that foot next!
To the mechanics of the foot itself, it attached perfectly to my older Singer. The bit of metal that goes 'in the ditch' guides you really well, but it has enough 'give' that excessive pressure to it just nudges it over a little. You move the foot back, and the metal bit just goes back to center. Basically, I hit a few spots where it got tripped up by there being something to push against (my own mistakes in putting the quilt together) and the bit didn't bend. I was really afraid I'd ruined it a couple times, but it sprang back like a champ.
But, I can't say I'm overly impressed. Sure, it's helping me keep to the ditch when quilting, but the small guide goes astray quite easily. What happens is the ditch guide attached to the foot very easily wobbles and bends, and even gets caught up behind seam edging. I was sewing a slow to moderate speed when using this, but I'd imagine anyone sewing at a fast speed would most definitely break off the ditch guide if it got caught up on the fabric and it wasn't caught in time.
I'm sure other presser feet could be used to stitch in the ditch without the guide, and although I don't have any quilt projects planned (for now) I imagine that if one happened to come along I might just use another presser foot.

I LOVE this foot! I purchased a lot of fleece remnants and sewed them together to make blankets for the homeless shelter. I was able to butt the fleece pieces together and join them with a decorative stitch. I had not sewn in a while and took on making several evening gowns. This was one of the products that made the results look professional. What a fantastic thing. When you are trying sew inside of a seam such as going acoss the shoulder on a sleeveless shirt to hold the facing in, just pop this on, put a little tension on your fabric to open the seam a bit and go for it! The foot has a little plow that runs along in front of th needle so that there is a well hidden seam. I love it.Thursday, September 4, 2014

This product was just what I needed to finsih cutting squares for a finished 4 x 4 inch block. It saved so much time and is so accurate that putting the quilt together is a breeze. Love it.
Do not like the fact that if you only want one size block that it cuts the entire mat. I have started putting the unused portion of the die past the wanted cutting area before placing the mat on the die.

Discount Sakura 44161 4-Piece Identi-Pen Assorted Colors Permanent Marker Set
Their website states that this is a PGA-tested and approved pen for golf balls. After 12 holes the lines I marked on my golf ball were nearly worn off. However, they did not smear. Sharpies tend to smear on golf balls. So the lines were still visible just really faint after 12 holes. I wouldn't recommend these for golf balls.
Here is what the Sakura website says about these markers:
"Identi-pen receives PGA Tour Partners Seal of Approval! 2500 golfers from the PGA Tour magazine, Partners, overwhelmingly approved Identi-pen in product testing. The results of the review will be published in the Sept./Oct 2008 issue of the magazine."
Then it goes on to list a bunch of anonymous quotes from PGA members who swear by the pen and state that it doesn't smear or fade. Definitely fades. If I can figure out how to put up a picture or a video onto this review I will.
The colors are wonderfully vibrant. Note: the purple pen seems the most likely to bleed under water-based based brush-on acrylic varnish. The other colors seem to hold up fine under that kind of varnish.

I particularly like the black pen. Am still trying to pinpoint how archival they are. They seem long-lasting from what I can tell. I believe that the ink is dye rather than pigment. The colors are wonderfully vibrant. Note: the purple pen seems the most likely to bleed under water-based based brush-on acrylic varnish. Premiere Acrylic Paint Set- Six 200 ml tubes (2-1/2 lbs of paint) Review
Beautiful prime and secondary colors. This is exactly what I need and I'll buy it again when I need it.
You cannot beat these for price. I was having an issue branching out into other media AND affording oils, so I decided to purchase acrylic for the first time in years. While they are obviously not Liquitex or Golden, they are far better than Master's Touch or any generic runny craft paint. (I remember in college a fellow student trying to afford their partying by buying craft paint at WalMart. They didn't make it past freshman year.)
2) Tones
The yellow is a very genuine, if bright, yellow.
The red mixes slightly orange, but it is barely perceptible.
The blue is not a powerful mixer, but the tone stays genuine if you get the hang of the quantities needed. Plus as we all know a little blue goes a long way!
The green is a bit odd. Why they didn't just do primaries I don't know. Anyway, the green has a very heavy blue base, so be prepared to mix for that.
The white is just your standard white. Unlike in oil paints, a lot is needed to make something very bright, but this is the same in acrylics from cheap to expensive.
The black... yeah. I don't paint with black as a rule as it flattens any painting, but if you do I will let you know it is a red base. It actually appears as a very very very dark brown, like African hair if you look closely. I used quite a bit simply for the purposes of this review, to help others.
3) Weight
They are not runny, and when squeezing them out they hold well. I will explain like this: I squirted close to a surface and pulled upwards. At a height of an inch it held a perfect Hershey's kiss shape as long as I was willing to watch, but if I knocked into the surface sufficiently (I may or may not be a clutz) it would bloop over, but not go anywhere. Very good viscosity!
4) Notes
Works very well with both brush and palette knife.
Amazing with a gel medium for impasto, which was my goal. Yays!
Dries quickly even undiluted.
I HIGHLY recommend this pack for a budding artist, a christmas gift for someone, a starving art student, whoever.
