Cheap Darice Precision Screwdriver Set
I purchased these screwdrivers to complete one minor craft project. The price was good, and I figured it was worth the cost to remove a few small screws in one light box. Little did I know the quality of what I was ordering and the multiple uses I would find for these. They are solid, weighty, and a go-to tool to remove those tiny screws in so many decorations, children's toys, and even small electronics. There are both slotted and philips heads in the set. The quality is great, and I am impressed.

I have made felt stockings before and this is definitely the toughest one i've tackled. There are over 100 pieces to put together. It is coming along and the end result will be worth it but this is definitely not for beginners. The instructions are not very detailed and if I had never done this kind of project before I don't think I would have been able to do it with what is given.Honest reviews on Bucilla 86280 Santa's Secret Stocking Felt Applique Kit, 18-Inch

Bachelor Stars & Leaves Grey Silver Kit, 8 Set with Tool Jean Tack Reviews
Liked that these said Levi on the heads. Put them on many jeans to loosen the waist some. After one or two wearings the button head would pop off when I bent over. It seems to me that the tack does not have enough deep grooves to keep this from happening. The shaft of the tack is almost smooth. Drats, back to the drawing board as they say.

Buy Sargent Art 22-7208 Colors of My Friends 8-Count Multicultural
I ordered these so that I would be able to draw more realistic skin tones. The colors that came in the box were as follows:
Four shades of brown, ranging from medium to very dark brown (Labelled mahogany, brown, dark brown, and light brown)
Black
Red
Maize (a yellowish green-brown)
Peach (which was sort of orange-y looking to me)
I think these would be better advertised as earth-tones, rather than "multi-cultural" shades. I was looking for a set of pencils that ran the spectrum of human skin tones, which these aren't very helpful with. The peach brown shades were those that could be found in any set of 50+ colored pencils, and the other ones weren't really skin tones.
So, while I'm sure they'd be great for nature sketches, and might work for some, they aren't what I was looking for.

I bought these so that my kids could have a wider variety of realistic colors from which to choose when drawing people. The colors in this box are Black, Brown, Dark Brown, Mahogany, Maize, Peach and Red. Standard colored pencil sets ALL come with black, brown, and red. I don't know why they are included here. They are not special skin tone versions of these colors, just basic red, black, and brown. The other colors are not great representations of skin colors either. These are good pencils that lay down a smooth line of color, but they are not a set of eight skin-colored pencils as I thought. I ordered these not knowing what to expect since I've never ordered these before. The Color choice is nice and works good on all my sketches. The earth tones that came in this set have been used on projects other than facial or cultural for that matter. These are some nice choices of color and are a great addition to my art supplies locker.Honest reviews on Sargent Art 22-7208 Colors of My Friends 8-Count Multicultural
It can be frustrating to color people or nature scenes with most colored pencil sets, since the browns and tans are usually so limited. This set solves that problem! Black is included, but I wish they had white also, so any of these tones can be lightened with a cover of white.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Sargent Art 22-7208 Colors of My Friends 8-Count Multicultural
As a person who is old enough to remember when a light peach colour was labelled "flesh" in the pencil box, I couldn't resist adding these "Colors of my Friends" to my pencil crayon collection. Besides giving a variety of tones for sketching at Life Drawing, I think they might be handy for subtle landscape colors. The pencils are not as waxy as Prismacolor or Dick Blick's Studio Colors but they are a nice addition. I haven't tried a blender stick on them, but I would imagine that they would blend toojust hasn't come in to my use for fairly short poses. Also, these "Multicultural" pencils are a bit of a conversation piece in an art group!Sunday, December 7, 2014

Review of Fiskars 01-001049 Eyelet Punch Setter
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $13.00
Sale Price: $11.79

I got this primarily to punch holes in projects with because it could be used anywhere on a piece of paper.
It's probably one of the most used tools in my paper craft collection now. Inside the spring are two rods, one on each end. When you set the hole or the eyelet holding one end in place on the project you're working on, you pull up the other end and just let it drop. That causes the rods to hit each other and either punches the hole or sets the eyelet.
I do expect quality from Fiskars, but the simple design of this tool and how well it works impresses me. I've used the punch on 3mm laminate, on rubber (bicycle tire inner tubes) and of course on paper and card stock. It punches a nice clean hole almost every time. On laminate sometimes I need to trim part of the hole.
I never much used the eyelet end, but working with the recycled tire inner tubes sometimes I want to set an eyelet. I decided to try this out. It works so much nicer than the hammer/eyelet setter I was using. I can set the eyelet in place, hold the eyelet setter on it, and use my other hand to pull up the top of this. It's easy enough to get the setting perfectly centered without feeling like I need a 3rd hand for a hammer. Even with the heavier eyelets I use for the rubber (I use the sort used in leather crafting) it splits the eyelet neatly and sets it in place.
Update as of Jan. 30, 2012: The tip of this tool eventually got dull, and I now just use a normal metal old-school style hole punch that has a special small 1/8" tip, so it creates the same size hole as the fiskars tool...

By far the only eyelet punch I have ever used that doesn't pinch your fingers or ruins the materials you're using, or requires another person to use that pesky hammer. It's simple to use and works on the first try.Best Deals for Fiskars 01-001049 Eyelet Punch Setter
came quickly, well packaged, works great-punches really nice holes in my machine embroidery projects. Be sure to put something sturdy underneath-it can damage the surface if you don't.Honest reviews on Fiskars 01-001049 Eyelet Punch Setter
While I love the ease of use of this tool, the cutting tip has lost its edge (pun intended). The tool does not come with a cutting mat, so I merely have used a piece of metal as the base. The tip has gotten very dull, and I have to now buy a new cutting tool, while the setting end is just fine. It's so easy to use that I can watch TV and passively punch holes into 300 gram paper, which are my product's hangtags. I use a straight pin to clear the cutting tool, which will get clogged with paper every 10+ punches.Update as of Jan. 30, 2012: The tip of this tool eventually got dull, and I now just use a normal metal old-school style hole punch that has a special small 1/8" tip, so it creates the same size hole as the fiskars tool...

Cheap Young Artist Essentials Gift Set
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $50.00
Sale Price: $47.39
Today's Bonus: 5% Off

My kids got this as a gift from their favorite aunt a couple years ago and they still use it all the time. They love the variety of supplies and I love that it all goes back neatly into a nice wooden box that doesn't look out of place in the living room.
My nine-year-old daughter's eyes nearly popped out of her head when I presented this to her. She immediately pulled out some of the set's paper and started drawing in colored pencil. While she was tempted to use the markers and pastels, she held off the first night because she didn't want to "wreck" them. And, truth be told, I couldn't disagree with her because all the new supplies looked so perfect in the opened box. Why ruin such a beautiful thing?
The hinged wooden box is filled with: colored pencils (64); watercolor pencils (8); oil pastels (18) (these are the sort of like grease pencils); graphite pencils (2) and washable markers (12) (but each end is a different color, so you get 24 colors in all). There's also a pencil sharpener, small sheets of fine-milled paper and a paint brush.
As long as you've got extra paper on hand, your child/children should enjoy what this art set has to offer for quite some time. Just make sure they're careful with the pastels if they happen to be around any nice furniture.
The oil pastels are great and the watercolor pencils are wonderful.
The markers that came in our set were a disappointment. Literally, five or six ends (they are double-ended markers) didn't work well as if they had dried up, but the caps were all still on tightly. We aren't a big "marker" family, but since you are paying for markers, it would be nice if they all worked.
This set also comes with some artist paper and a nice color booklet demonstrating the different mediums.
Overall this is a nice set. My only negative is the poor quality of the markers. They would be better off left out of the set and replaced with something of greater quality.
The set makes an immediate impression thanks to a beautiful polished wooden case that encloses the set, and each element fits snugly into a velvety yet secure interior. The kit was designed with care and attention to detail. (The brass latch on the gift box worked fine, and clicked into place, yet I do have concerns that it isn't quite as durable as the box itself.)
Inside its lovely wooden gift box, each Essentials Set includes most of the major elements for learning to sketch and color at an intermediate level, including:
24 Colored EcoPencils
8 Watercolor EcoPencils
2 GRIP Graphite EcoPencils
18 Oil pastels
12 Washable Duo-tip markers
Small Pencil sharpener
Paint brush (sized for watercolors and delicate painting)
A Mini-artpad of paper including 25 (small) Sheets of artist paper
A small 4-Color illustration booklet
My complaints would be very minor -it's a bit pricey, and you could probably get all of these elements for half the price if the case wasn't the major selling point. However, for me, the case provides something to store pencils and other art supplies in far after the original set, so it's worth it.
If I were going to be picky, I also don't really think including a very small drawing pad was actually worth the storage space here -it seems to me that it would have been better to have provided a few additional drawing/painting elements such as erasers, charcoals, or even a small watercolor mixing tray or palette. As it is, the paper is nice, but once your child has used it all, you probably won't refill the small pad, and will opt for a nice big drawing pad instead. So your kit will quickly have an empty space that just seems impractical in a keepsake set like this -again, that's kind of odd, and I wish they'd actually just stuck to brushes, pencils, and other renewable, refillable elements.
I also wasn't a huge fan of the markers -they're nice enough, but not as universally practical as the rest of the kit, and I would have rather seen the set include a wider range of pastels or watercolor pencils, instead.
Regardless, it's still a really beautiful set, and one that will make a wonderful gift for any artistically inclined child you want to inspire to dream and create! Faber-Castell is a respected name in art supplies (I've used their pastels, chalks and charcoals for years), and this set is a keepsake that's a worthy addition to their product line -and I also give them major kudos for doing so using environmentally-friendly and renewable materials in many of their pencils and kit elements.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program For those who might not know, Faber-Castell is a German company that's been around for a few hundred years (1761). The company has a solid rep in the art business for quality products ranging from pencils and pastels to charcoals and markers. Although the products are typically expensive in price, they have never--in my experience--been cheap in quality. Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This kit for my budding artist. It has double ended markers, good sketch pencils and color pencils, some great paper (kind of wish they hadn't included that, I would have liked a little watercolor kit instead, it would have been more practical) and oil pastels. My budding artist (six) loves it. I tell him it's his "big boy artist kit" and that he needs to take very good care of it, which he does. Having it in the wooden box makes it seem more substantial and I think makes him feel more legitimate as an artist. I usually use the acrylic paints that are sold in the bottles but I wanted to try this out. The set is very nice but doesn't come with the palette knife. Also, some of the paints were really dry and that is why this didn't get five stars. All in all though, I really like this set and I especially love the pencil and eraser that comes with it. I've found that with other pencils and erasers, there is evidence of erasing on the painted item. Not so with this. Also, the wooden case is very nice and the price was great. I do like this but I think I prefer the other acrylic style paints. Time will tell more though since I'm just learning more about this particular acrylic type. I recommend this for a beginner and advanced painter as well.

Reviews of Home Repair Kit Sewing Needles Upholstery Tapestry Canvas
Reading the reviews of other packages of curved sewing needles here on amazon, I felt reluctant to purchase any. According to the reviews, they all broke as soon as they came near materials like denim or leather.
Imagine my delight when I sewed a thick blanket onto my crummy leather couch without a single hassle. The curved needle worked just like you'd expect. I even used an inner strand from some paracord as thread, which put a lot of stress on the eye when I pulled the knot through.
